Vermont Route 153 (VT 153) is a state highway in southwestern Vermont in the United States. It extends for from the New York state line at Rupert to VT 30 in Pawlet. VT 153 is entirely town-maintained and goes through Bennington and Rutland counties. Route description VT 153 begins at the state line adjacent to Washington County, New York, where it connects to County Route 153 (CR 153, formerly New York State Route 153 or NY 153) in the Rupert Valley. The route heads to the northeast, passing through the village of West Rupert, which is located northeast of the Big Ridge, a mountain. Route 153 progresses farther, passing Oak Hill and turning at an intersection with VT 315 at Meetinghouse Hill. The southern terminus of the route is at NY 96 in the village of Pittsford. Its northern terminus is at an interchange with NY 441 in the town of Penfield. Over the course of its routing, NY 153 passes through the towns of Pittsford, East Rochester (also village), Perinton, and Penfield. NY 153 connects to Interstate 490 (I-490) twice in East Rochester by way of NY 31F and West Commercial Street. West Pawlet is an unincorporated village and census-designated place (CDP) in the town of Pawlet, Rutland County, Vermont, United States. As of the 2020 census, it had a population of 220, slightly more than the population of the village of Pawlet at the town center.
