''Ver Llover'' ("See Rain") is a multi-award-winning short film by Elisa Miller. This fiction short film, written and directed by Elisa Miller while a student at the Mexican film academy, the Centro de Capacitación Cinematográfica (CCC), as her third-year endpaper, was originally presented at the Guanajuato Film Festival, to excellent reviews but no awards. Next, it won the "Best short fiction film" award at the Morelia Film Festival 2006 and competed, and won, the Palme d´Or short film at the 2007 Cannes Film Festival. Elisa Miller
Elisa Miller Encinas is a Mexican award-winning film director, writer, and producer. She studied English literature at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) and film direction at the Centro de Capacitación Cinematográfica (CCC) in Mexico City. She is the first and only Mexican female filmmaker to win the Golden Palm for a short fiction feature at the Cannes Film Festival. Her first short film ''Ver Llover'' (Watching It Rain, 2006) was nationally and internationally awarded in 2007. Early life and education Elisa Miller was born in Mexico City, Mexico in July 1982. Miller was introduced to the world of cinema at a very young age. Centro De Capacitación Cinematográfica
The Centro de Capacitación Cinematográfica (CCC) is a film school belonging to Mexico's Secretariat of Culture. It was founded in 1975 with the aim of providing technical and artistic training for those entering the film industry. The CCC is part of the International Association of Film and Television Schools and since 2011 to the International Federation of Film Archives. Recognized as a cutting-edge school in film teaching, it received the Award for Academic Excellence at the Tel Aviv Film School Festival, in Israel, in 2005, and in 2006 the Golden Ariel for its 30 years of educational work and contribution to national cinema. Morelia Film Festival
Morelia (; from 1545 to 1828 known as Valladolid) is a city and municipal seat of the municipality of Morelia in the north-central part of the state of Michoacán in central Mexico. The city is in the Guayangareo Valley and is the capital and largest city of the state. The main pre-Hispanic cultures here were the Purépecha and the Matlatzinca, but no major cities were founded in the valley during this time. The Spanish took control of the area in the 1520s. Palme D´Or
The Palme d'Or (; en, Golden Palm) is the highest prize awarded at the Cannes Film Festival. It was introduced in 1955 by the festival's organizing committee. Previously, from 1939 to 1954, the festival's highest prize was the Grand Prix du Festival International du Film. The 60th Cannes Film Festival ran from 16 to 27 May 2007. The President of the Jury was British director Stephen Frears. Twenty two films from twelve countries were selected to compete for the Palme d'Or. The awards were announced on 26 May. Ariel Award
The Ariel Award ( es, Premio Ariel) is an award that recognizes the best of Mexican cinema. Given annually, since 1946, by the Mexican Academy of Cinematographic Arts and Sciences (AMACC), the award recognizes artistical and technical excellence in the Mexican film industry. The purpose of the Ariel recognition is to stimulate and increase the excellence of Mexican cinema, favor the growth of the industry, and promote the meeting and strengthening of the national film community.
