Veor RFC
Veor Rugby Football Club is a Cornish and English rugby union football club based in Camborne, Cornwall. The club, founded in 1966, play in amber and black at the Holmans Sports Centre.Cornwall RFU Handbook. 2010–11. They are one of two teams in the town, along with illustrious neighbours, Camborne RFC. They currently play in Cornwall/Devon - a league at level 8 of the English rugby union system - following their promotion as champions of Cornwall 1 at the end of the 2018–19 season. History With the advent of the league rugby union in 1987 Veor were placed in Cornwall 2 – a basement league ranked at level 10 of the English rugby union system – which they promptly won in their first season. This early success was replicated the next season when they won the Cornwall Clubs Cup (then known as the Knockout Plate) for the first time in their history. Camborne
Camborne ( kw, Kammbronn) is a town in Cornwall, England. The population at the 2011 Census was 20,845. The northern edge of the parish includes a section of the South West Coast Path, Hell's Mouth and Deadman's Cove. Camborne was formerly one of the richest tin mining areas in the world and home to the Camborne School of Mines. Rugby union in Cornwall ( kw, unyans rugbi) is Cornwall's most popular spectator sport with a large following. The followers of the national side are dubbed Trelawny's Army. In 1991 and 1999 Cornwall won the County Championship final played at Twickenham Stadium, beating Yorkshire and Gloucestershire respectively to win the Cup. They had another strong spell in the 2010s, reaching seven of the eight finals contested between 2013 and 2022 (meeting either Cheshire or Lancashire on every occasion), winning four of them. CRFU Cornwall Cup
The CRFU Cornwall Cup (currently sponsored by Tribute Ales) is an annual rugby union knock-out cup club competition organised by the Cornwall Rugby Football Union first played for in 1896 but only regularly since 1969. It is open for teams based in Cornwall that are ranked below the national leagues (tier 6–8) but above the Cornish regional divisions (tier 9–10). Tier 9 to 10 clubs have their own competition in the Cornish Clubs Cup. Until 2006–07 all of the top rugby union teams in Cornwall including the Cornish Pirates, Launceston and Redruth played in the competition, up until the formation of the Cornwall Super Cup in 2007–08. Although the Cornwall Super Cup is now a two-legged competition between only two sides, the national Cornish clubs have kept away from the CRFU Cornwall Cup as the demands of the modern game have increased over the years. 2013–14 Tribute Cornwall/Devon League
The 2013–14 Cornwall/Devon League, known for sponsorship reasons as the Tribute Cornwall/Devon League was the twenty-seventh full season of rugby union within the Cornwall/Devon League, and consisted of seven teams from Devon and six teams from Cornwall. Exeter University, the champions, lost only one match and finished in their highest ever league placing. Tiverton came second and both teams are promoted to Tribute Western Counties West for 2014–15 season. Newquay Hornets and Veor, who won only two matches and promoted the previous season, are both relegated to Tribute Cornwall 1. Rugby Union Bonus Points System
Bonus points are group tournament points awarded in rugby union tournaments in addition to the standard points for winning or drawing a match. Bonus points were implemented in order to encourage attacking play throughout a match, to discourage repetitive goal-kicking, and to reward teams for "coming close" in losing efforts. Standard system The most common point system is: * 4 points for winning a match * 2 points for drawing a match * 0 points for losing a match * 1 losing bonus point for losing by 7 points (or fewer) * 1 try bonus point for scoring (at least) 4 tries, regardless of the outcome. Team changes Veor promoted as champions and Pirates Amateurs promoted to the Tribute Cornwall/Devon League, after beating Wessex ( Tribute Devon 1) in a playoff. St Day, Perranporth, Illogan Park, St Agnes and Redruth Albany are relegated to the re–formed Tribute Cornwall 2. Lankelly–Fowey withdrew during the season and their results were expunged from the table; they will start next season in Tribute Cornwall 2 as well.
