''Venus fra Vestø'' (literally, ''Venus from West Island'') is a 1962 Danish comedy war film directed by Annelise Reenberg and starring Malene Schwartz. The film is based on Jerrard Tickell's 1951 novel ''Appointment with Venus'' (Danish title: ''Operation Venus''), but re-set on a Danish island rather than a ficitional island in the Channel Islands. Arthur Jensen (9 November 1897 – 28 November 1981) was a Danish actor whose career lasted for almost 60 years. He made his début on stage at the Royal Danish Theatre in 1923, and he had his big screen début in the silent film '' Pas på pigerne'' in 1930. Edward Chapman (13 October 1901 – 9 August 1977) was an English actor who starred in many films and television programmes, but is chiefly remembered as "Mr. William Grimsdale", the officious superior and comic foil to Norman Wisdom's character of Pitkin in many of his films from the late 1950s and 1960s. Life and career Chapman was born in Harrogate, West Riding of Yorkshire, and was the uncle of actor/screenwriter John Chapman and actor Paul Chapman. Richard Wattis (25 February 1912 – 1 February 1975) was an English actor, co-starring in many popular British comedies of the 1950s and 1960s. Early life Richard Cameron Wattis was born on 25 February 1912 in Wednesbury, Staffordshire, the elder of two sons born to Cameron Tom Wattis and Margaret Janet, née Preston. Varinka Corinna Wichfeld Muus (9 February 1922 – 18 December 2002) was a Danish resistance fighter under the Denmark in World War II, German occupation of Denmark in World War II. Her mother was Monica Wichfeld, an upper-class Ulster, Ulsterwoman who was a leading member of the Danish resistance movement, Danish resistance during the Denmark in World War II, German occupation of Denmark and was the first woman in Denmark to receive a capital sentence for resistance against the Nazis.
