Venice (musical)
''Venice'' is a musical collaboration between Matt Sax and Eric Rosen. The plot focuses on a dystopian near-future fictional city named Venice. The show opened at the Copaken Stage in Kansas City in 2010 as a co-production between Kansas City Rep and Center Theatre Group. ''Venice'' also ran at the Public Theater in New York from May 28 through June 30, 2013. The cast of ''Venice'' at The Public includes Uzo Aduba, Jennifer Damiano, Jonathan-David, Claybourne Elder, Leslie Odom, Jr., Victoria Platt, Angela Polk, Matt Sax, and Haaz Sleiman. The Kansas City production received regional and national attention for its unique use of hip-hop and multimedia elements. Claybourne Elder (born April 21, 1982) is an American actor, singer, and writer who is best known for his work on television and on Broadway. Biography Elder is from Springville, Utah. Eric Brent Rosen (born September 23, 1970) is an American theater director and playwright. Education Rosen attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and completed a doctorate of performance studies at Northwestern University. Career Eric Rosen co-founded and served as Artistic Director of Chicago’s About Face Theatre from 1995-2008.
