Venezuela At The Olympics
Venezuela first participated at the Olympic Games in 1948, and has sent athletes to compete in every Summer Olympic Games since then. Venezuela has also participated in the Winter Olympic Games since 1998. The Venezuelan Olympic Committee (COV) was created in 1935. The first Venezuelan athlete to participate in the Olympic Games was cyclist Julio César León in 1948 Summer Olympics, London 1948. Julio Rubén Mayora Pernia (born 2 September 1996) is a Venezuelan weightlifter, Olympian, Pan American Champion and Pan American Games Champion competing in the 69 kg category until 2018 and the 67 kg and 73 kg categories starting in 2018 after the International Weightlifting Federation reorganized the categories. Agencia Venezolana de Noticias (AVN) is the national news agency of Venezuela. It is part of the Ministry of Popular Power for Communication and Information (MINCI), but is run as an autonomous service. It reports on national and regional issues, as well as on Latin America in general. History AVN was re-founded in 2005 by the Ministry of Communication and Information (MCI) as the ''Agencia Bolivariana de Noticias'' (ABN). Its predecessor was the news agency Venpres, which had been founded on 23 May 1977. In October 2008, Venezuelan minister Andrés Izarra declared in an interview at Radio Nacional de Venezuela that the ABN would be converted into a state owned corporation under the name ''Agencia Venezolana de Noticias''. He stated this was the result of an investigation about the working conditions, and that rebranding the agency should increase the chances of ABN employees on the job market. Luge
A luge is a small one- or two-person sled on which one sleds supine (face up) and feet-first. 2006 Winter Olympics
The 2006 Winter Olympics, officially the XX Olympic Winter Games ( it, XX Giochi olimpici invernali) and also known as Torino 2006, were a winter multi-sport event held from 10 to 26 February 2006 in Turin, Italy.
