Venetian People's Movement
The Venetian People's Movement ( it, Movimento Popolare Veneto, MPV) was a Christian-democratic and regionalist political party in Veneto, Italy. Its leader was Francesco Piccolo, long-time regional councillor and minister. Similarly to the Liberal Populars, MPV was founded in March 2008 by splinters of the Union of Christian and Centre Democrats (UDC) who wanted to continue the alliance with Forza Italia and to participate to the foundation of the regional The People of Freedom (PdL). Their leader was Francesco Piccolo, regional councillor and UDC regional leader at the time of the split. The Union of the Centre ( it, Unione di Centro, UdC), whose complete name is "Union of Christian and Centre Democrats" (''Unione dei Democratici Cristiani e Democratici di Centro'', UDC), is a Christian-democratic political party in Italy. Lorenzo Cesa is the party's current secretary; Pier Ferdinando Casini was for years the most recognisable figure and ''de facto'' leader of the party, before eventually distancing from it in 2016. The UdC is a member of the European People's Party (EPP) and the Centrist Democrat International (CDI), of which Casini was president from 2004 to 2015. Alliance of the Centre ( it, Alleanza di Centro, AdC), whose full name is Alliance of the Centre for the Territories ( it, Alleanza di Centro per i Territori), is a Christian-democratic political party in Italy. It was founded in November 2008 as Alliance of the Centre for Freedom ( it, Alleanza di Centro per la Libertà) by splinters from the Union of the Centre (UdC) who wanted to return to an alliance with Silvio Berlusconi's centre-right coalition and support his fourth government. Its leader is Francesco Pionati, deputy and formerly spokesman of the UdC. At the 2009 European Parliament election, AdC was part of The Autonomy, an electoral coalition including The Right, the Movement for the Autonomies and the Pensioners' Party, which gained 2.2% of the vote and no MEPs. The Tosi List for Veneto ( it, Lista Tosi per il Veneto, LTV) was a centrist and regionalist political party in Veneto, Italy, named after its leader Flavio Tosi. Lega Nord
Lega Nord (; acronym: LN), whose complete name is (), is a right-wing, federalist, populist and conservative political party in Italy. In the run-up of the 2018 general election, the party was rebranded as (), without changing its official name. The party was nonetheless frequently referred to only as "Lega" even before the rebranding, and informally as the (). The party's latest elected leader was Matteo Salvini. In 1989, the LN was established as a federation of six regional parties from northern and north-central Italy (Liga Veneta, Lega Lombarda, Piemont Autonomista, Uniun Ligure, Lega Emiliano-Romagnola and Alleanza Toscana), which became the party's founding "national" sections in 1991. Liga Veneta ( vec, Łiga Vèneta; en, Venetian League; abbr. LV), whose complete name is ( en, Venetian League for Salvini Premier), is a regionalist political party active in Veneto. The LV, whose ideology combines Venetian nationalism and support for fiscal federalism, was established in 1979 and was the first party of its kind in northern Italy, predating Umberto Bossi's Lega Lombarda by five years. 2015 Venetian Regional Election
The Venetian regional election of 2015 took place in Veneto on 31 May 2015, as part of a big round of regional elections in Italy. Venetian voters elected their President and their Regional Council, whose members had been reduced to 51, including the President. Luca Zaia, incumbent President (elected in 2010 with 60.2% of the vote) and leading member of the Northern League (LN), was re-elected by a reduced majority, due to a split occurred within his party in the run-up of the election, but, despite this, his victory over Alessandra Moretti of the Democratic Party (PD), who fared quite badly, was still a landslide: 50.1% to 22.7%. Renato Chisso (born 28 July 1954 in Quarto d'Altino) is an Italian politician from Veneto. A long-time member of the Italian Socialist Party, he joined Forza Italia in 1994. He was first elected to the Regional Council of Veneto in 1995 and re-elected in 2000, 2005 and 2010. Between 2000 and 2005 he was regional minister of Environment and Transports in Galan II Government. Created by Japanese video game designer Shigeru Miyamoto, Luigi is portrayed as the younger fraternal twin brother and sidekick of Mario, Nintendo's mascot.
