Composition The song has been labeled as punk rock and surf rock by critics. Video As "Velouria" was climbing up the UK Top 40, the band was offered a spot on ''Top of the Pops''. However, a BBC rule stated that only singles with videos could be performed on the show. To counter this, a cheap video was made with the band being filmed running down a quarry. In ...

Pixies (band)
Pixies is an American alternative rock band formed in 1986, in Boston, Massachusetts. Until 2013, the band consisted of Black Francis (vocals, rhythm guitar, songwriter), Joey Santiago (lead guitar), Kim Deal (bass, vocals) and David Lovering (drums). They disbanded acrimoniously in 1993 but reunited in 2004. After Deal left in 2013, Pixies hired Kim Shattuck as a touring bassist; she was replaced that year by Paz Lenchantin, who became a permanent member in 2016. Pixies is associated with the 1990s alternative rock boom, and draws on elements including punk rock and surf rock. Their music is known for dynamic "loud-quiet-loud" shifts and song structures. Francis is Pixies' primary songwriter; his often surreal lyrics cover offbeat subjects such as extraterrestrials, incest, and biblical violence. The band achieved modest popularity in the US but was more successful in Europe. Their jarring pop sound influenced acts such as Nirvana, Radiohead, the Smashing Pumpkins and W ...

Since 2001, the band has consisted of Rivers Cuomo (vocals, guitar, keyboards), Patrick Wilson (drums, backing vocals), Scott Shriner (bass guitar, keyboards, backing vocals), and Brian Bell (guitar, keyboards, backing vocals). After signing to Geffen Records in 1993, Weezer released their self-titled debut album, also known as the Blue Album, in May 1994. Backed by music videos for the singles "Buddy Holly", "Undone – The Sweater Song", and "Say It Ain't So", the Blue Album became a multiplatinum success. Weezer's second album, '' Pinkerton'' (1996), featuring a darker, more abrasive sound, was a commercial failure and initially received mixed reviews, but achieved cult status and critical acclaim years later. Both the Blue Album and ''Pinkerton'' are now frequently cited among the best albums of the 1990s. Following the tour for ''Pinkerton'', founding bassist Matt Sharp left the band and Wee ...

Happy Daze (compilation Album)
''Happy Daze'' is a compilation album of songs linked to the Madchester music genre distributed by Island Records in 1990. Influence The Madchester sound had been developing during the later 1980s, from its nascent jangly sounds originally showcased on the NME's classic C86 cassette. By 1990, Madchester and related music was becoming more mainstream, but Happy Daze's release helped to crystallise awareness of the new overall Madchester sound by featuring tracks from several different yet converging forces. Although all have the 'Madchester spirit', by no means all the bands were from Manchester: Primal Scream, The Shamen, and The Soup Dragons being Scottish, The Charlatans from Northwich and the Pixies American. Likewise, not every group on the compilation performed the dance rock style typical of Madchester bands: e.g. Ride were a shoegazing band. This has been seen as a criticism of the album, along with the glaring omission of songs by New Order or The Stone Roses and for ...

Produced by Gil Norton, it was released as the second single from the group's second album '' Doolittle'' in June 1989. I've Been Waiting For You (Neil Young Song)
"I've Been Waiting for You" is a song written by Neil Young, which he recorded for his 1968 debut solo album. In a song review for AllMusic, critic Matthew Greenwald described it as "One of the most powerful and well-crafted songs from Neil Young's self-titled solo debut... A very strong and engaging melody is set against a striking, descending guitar riff, which serves as the song's hook." Young did not perform the song with Crazy Horse or Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, although he recorded a live solo acoustic version in November 1968, just a few days before the release of the album version. It was later included on the live album ''Sugar Mountain – Live at Canterbury House 1968'', released in 2008. David Bowie, the Pixies (B-side of single "Velouria"), and Dinosaur Jr. (unreleased) have recorded renditions of the song. David Bowie version David Bowie recorded a version of the song, which features Dave Grohl on guitar, for his album '' Heathen'' (2002). His version of " ...
