Vello Salum
Vello Salum (5 July 1933 – 30 November 2015) was an Estonian Lutheran clergyman, Soviet dissident, and politician. Salum was born in Elistvere in Tartu County. His father August Johannes Salum was a veterinarian and politician. He was a member of Constitutional Assembly of Estonia. In 2000, he was awarded with Order of the National Coat of Arms, III class. August Johannes Salum
August Johannes Salum (19 May 1894 Mäksa Parish, Tartu County – June 1969) was an Estonian veterinarian and politician. He was a member of IV and V Riigikogu. He was a member of the Riigikogu beginning on 2 September 1930, when he replaced Hans Miller. August Salum was born in present-day Kastre Parish. He served in the Estonian Defence Forces during the Estonian War of Independence. From 1924-1926, he studied at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Tartu. He then studied at the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of the University of Tartu from 1927-1930 and from 1936-1939. He worked as a veterinarian on the island of Saaremaa from 1939 to 1941, in Palamuse from 1941 to 1944, in Jõgeva from 1944 to 1953, and in Põltsamaa from 1953 to 1965. Viljandi
Viljandi (, german: Fellin, sv, Fellin) is a town and municipality in southern Estonia with a population of 17,407 in 2019. It is the capital of Viljandi County and is geographically located between two major Estonian cities, Pärnu and Tartu. The town was first mentioned in 1283, upon being granted its town charter by Wilhelm von Endorpe. The town became a member of the Hanseatic League at the beginning of the 14th century, and is one of five Estonian towns and cities in the league. Pilistvere
Pilistvere is a village in Põhja-Sakala Parish, Viljandi County, in central Estonia. It's located about east of the town of Võhma and about west of the town of Põltsamaa. Pilistvere lies on the left bank of the Navesti River. As of 2011 census, the settlement's population was 90. Pilistvere Church The church, originally dedicated to St. Andrew, dates from the end of the 13th century. It is a hall church with a nave and two aisles. The church has a square choir and a western tower. Of the original medieval furnishings, little remains as the church has been damaged by fire and war on several occasions. The baroque pulpit (1686) is the most noteworthy interior furnishing. The tower has the tallest spire of any rural church in Estonia.
