Castelnuovo Cilento ( Cilentan: ''Castiedde Nuove'') is a town and ''comune'' in the province of Salerno in the Campania region of south-western Italy. History The medieval village of Castelnuovo was part of the fief of the Agnello family from Senerchia. The current toponym, adding ''Cilento'', was adopted in 1861, after the Italian unification. Geography Castelnuovo is a town located on a hill above the plain of river Alento, next to the town of Vallo della Lucania and the Ancient Greek city of Velia. It is part of Cilento and is included into its national park. The municipality borders with Ascea, Casal Velino, Ceraso, Salento and Vallo della Lucania. Ascea
Ascea is a town and ''comune'' in the province of Salerno in the Campania region of southwestern Italy. In the communal territory are the Greek ruins of Velia. It is part of the Cilento traditional area; the maritime touristic part of the municipality is the Marina di Ascea. Cilentan Coast
The Cilento Coast (Italian: ''Costiera Cilentana'') is an Italian stretch of coastline in Cilento, on the southern side of the Province of Salerno. It is situated between the gulfs of Salerno and Policastro, extending from the municipalities of Capaccio-Paestum in the north-west, to Sapri in the south-east. It is particularly known for its almost unspoiled natural landscapes and the very high cleanliness of its waters. Geography There are 16 municipalities composing the coast, but only two (Agropoli and Sapri) are directly located by the Tyrrhenian Sea, and other two (Ascea and Pisciotta) have got their ''Marinas'' very close to the towns. Agropoli is a town and ''comune'' located in the Cilento area of the province of Salerno, Campania, Italy. It is situated at the start of the Cilentan Coast, on the Tyrrhenian Sea. History Pre-medieval period The promontory on which Agropoli stands has been inhabited since Neolithic times. It seems, however, that it was not until the later Bronze Age, Bronze and Iron Ages that it came to be continuously inhabited by a stable, Indigenous peoples, indigenous population, which lived off hunting and fishing. To the east of the promontory, at the mouth of the River Testene, there is a natural sheltered bay, called "Foce" in ancient times, but which is now almost completely silted up. Before and after the foundation of nearby Paestum, Poseidonia (c. 625 BC), the Greeks used it for trading with the local people. Battipaglia () is a municipality (''comune'') in the province of Salerno, Campania, south-western Italy. Famed as a production place of buffalo mozzarella, Battipaglia is the economic hub of the Sele plain. History Formerly part of the ancient Greek colonies of the Magna Graecia, the municipal area used to host strategic Roman settlements during the late Republican- early Imperial times, like most of the southern Tyrrhenian coast. Casal Velino Railway Station
Metalurgia Casal was the largest Portuguese motorcycle manufacturer, based in Aveiro. It was founded in 1964 with João Casal as the managing director and Robert Zipprich and other ex-Zundapp engineers as the technical managers. A ''frazione'' (plural: ) is a type of subdivision of a ''comune'' (municipality) in Italy, often a small village or hamlet outside the main town. Most ''frazioni'' were created during the Fascist era (1922–1943) as a way to consolidate territorial subdivisions in the country. In the autonomous region of the Aosta Valley, a ''frazione'' is officially called an ''hameau'' in French.
