Vela Luka, Krk
Vela Luka is a bay on the island of Krk in the Republic of Croatia. Geography It is located on the southeastern part of the island of Krk in the Baška municipality and on the sea route from Baška to Senj. It is about 1.8 km long and about 400 meters wide. On the south-eastern side it closes the Cape Sokol. At the entrance to the cove the depth is over 60 meters, and from the middle of the bay the depth gradually falls. The bottom is predominantly sandy. At the end of the bay is a large sandy beach . There are several mostly ruinous coves in the cove. It is only a beach facility that works in summer as a catering facility. There is also a concrete mullet near it, but the depth is just 1.5 meters away. There is a somewhat greater depth (2–3 m) with the L-shaped mill located on the eastern coast of the bay. There is a source of drinking water at the end of the bay. Vela Luka
Vela Luka (, it, Vallegrande) is a small town and a municipality in Dubrovnik-Neretva County in southern Dalmatia, Croatia. The town is located on the western side of the island of Korčula at the bottom of a wide bay which has many indented coves. Vela Luka developed at the beginning of the 19th century in a deep sheltered bay. Its name means "big harbour" in Croatian chakavian. Inhabitants of the Island of Korčula and Pelješac often refer to it simply as "Luka" (the port/harbour). It has several hotels and a medical centre called Kalos (for rheumatic disorders and rehabilitation). The inhabitants are farmers, fishermen and workers in tourism. Baška, Croatia
Baška () is a village and a municipality located on the south east of the island of Krk, in Primorje-Gorski Kotar County, Croatia. According to the 2011 census, the municipality has a population of 1,674, with 981 in Baška itself. This cultural and historical center with its old stone houses and narrow streets, has been a tourist destination since the 19th century, and has developed into a popular resort. It is known for its inscribed stone monument from 1100, for its many surrounding beaches, and its long tradition in tourism. Baška has a rich cultural and historical heritage. Highlights are the early Christian archeological site from the 5th century, the renowned Baška tablet from the year 1100 found in the Church of St. Lucy in the nearby Jurandvor, the remains of a Roman settlement, as well as many historical churches and chapels. Bora (wind)
The bora is a northerly to north-easterly katabatic wind in areas near the Adriatic Sea. Similar nomenclature is used for north-eastern winds in other littoral areas of eastern Mediterranean and Black Sea basins. Name It is known in Greek as (''mpóra'', pronounced ''bora'') and Italian as . In English, the name ''bora'' is used. Senj
Senj (; it, Segna, la, Senia, Hungarian language, Hungarian and german: Zengg) is a town on the upper Adriatic coast in Croatia, in the foothills of the Mala Kapela and Velebit mountains. The symbol of the town is the Nehaj Fortress ( hr, Tvrđava Nehaj) which was completed in 1558. Liburnian
The Liburnians or Liburni ( grc, Λιβυρνοὶ) were an ancient tribe inhabiting the district called Liburnia, a coastal region of the northeastern Adriatic between the rivers ''Arsia'' ( Raša) and ''Titius'' ( Krka) in what is now Croatia. According to Strabo's ''Geographica'' they populated Kerkyra until shortly after the Corinthians settled the island, c. 730 BC. Origins and relation to Illyrians Liburni's archaeological culture can be traced to the Late Bronze Age and "were settled since at least the tenth century BC in northern Dalmatia".
