Veerasammy Permaul
Veerasammy Permaul (born 11 August 1989) is a Guyanese professional cricketer. He's featured as a left arm orthodox spinner for both Guyana and the West Indies cricket team. Permaul is also the leading wicket-taker in West Indian First-Class cricketing tournaments. Career From Berbice, Permaul has played his club cricket with Community Centre Cricket Club since 2002. He made his first-class cricket debut for Guyana in the Regional Four Day Competition in 2006/07. In 2012 he captained the West Indies A team in a series at home against India A. After being released at the end of the 2016 Caribbean Premier League season, he was reselected by the Guyana Amazon Warriors for the 2017 edition; he was picked in the 9th round of the draft. Albion, Guyana
Albion is a village in East Berbice-Corentyne, Guyana. Geography It is located approximately east of the town of New Amsterdam, Guyana along the one and only main road. Part of Albion is known as Albion High Reef. Albion was a larger settlement, but has been broken up into smaller adjacent villages such as Hampshire, Nigg, Chesney, Belvedere, Sand Reef, Dr Bush, Guava Bush and Topoo. Demographics The town has 1,424 inhabitants as of 2012, mostly Indo-Guyanese. The village has four mandirs, one mosque and two Christian churches. Economy The Albion Sugar Estate (owned by Guyana Sugar Corporation) is a major employer in the area (3,400 reported in 2011). India A Cricket Team
The India A cricket team is a national cricket team representing India. It is the second-tier of Indian international cricket, below the full India national cricket team. The team is currently captained by Priyank Panchal in first-class cricket and Sanju Samson in List A cricket. The team is coached by former Saurashtra player Shitanshu Kotak. The matches played by India A are not considered to be Test matches or One Day Internationals, instead receiving first-class and List A classification respectively. The team also played in NKP Salve Challenger Trophy as India Red. The team names were changed for the 2006 version of this tournament. India A became India Red. 2020 Caribbean Premier League
The 2020 Caribbean Premier League (CPLT20) or for sponsorship reasons, Hero CPL 2020 was the eighth season of the Caribbean Premier League, the domestic Twenty20 cricket league played in the West Indies. All matches were played in Trinidad and Tobago. The tournament started on 18 August and ended on 10 September 2020. On 10 July 2020, the local government gave its approval for the tournament to go ahead, with all the matches taking place at two venues behind closed doors. The full schedule for the tournament was confirmed on 27 July 2020. On 6 August 2020, an official press release stated that all players, officials and administrators involved in the league had tested negative on arrival ahead of a two weeks quarantine period. The Jamaica national cricket team or officially the Jamaica Scorpions, is the representative first-class cricket team representing Jamaica at the West Indies domestic competitions. History The team's history goes back to 1895, when they played three matches against a touring side from England led by Slade Lucas, but because of the distance to the other cricketing countries, Jamaica did not play regular first-class cricket until 1964. They played in the inaugural Shell Shield first-class competition, winning it on the fourth attempt, but then had to wait until 1977–78 for their next title – which was a shared one-day title with Leeward Islands. The 2019–20 West Indies Championship was the 54th edition of the Regional Four Day Competition, the domestic first-class cricket competition for the countries of the Cricket West Indies (CWI). The previous edition of the tournament was known as the Regional Four Day Competition before being rebranded by CWI. The 2019–20 Regional Super50 was the 46th edition of the Regional Super50, the domestic limited-overs cricket competition for the countries of the Cricket West Indies (CWI). The tournament started on 6 November 2019, with the final taking place on 1 December 2019. The tournament featured the six regular teams of West Indian domestic cricket (Barbados, Guyana, Jamaica, the Leeward Islands, Trinidad and Tobago, and the Windward Islands), the Combined Campuses and Colleges team and the West Indies Emerging Team. The West Indies cricket team toured Pakistan in April 2018 to play three Twenty20 International (T20I) matches. Pakistan won the series 3–0. Following the conclusion of the series, Pakistan's captain Sarfaraz Ahmed said that "no team will be using security concerns as an excuse in the future. The 2017–18 Regional Four Day Competition was the 52nd edition of the Regional Four Day Competition, the domestic first-class cricket competition for the countries of the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB). The competition ran from 26 October 2017 to 21 January 2018, with six matches being played as day/night fixtures. Six teams contested the tournament – Barbados, Guyana, Jamaica, the Leeward Islands, Trinidad and Tobago, and the Windward Islands. Leeward Islands Cricket Team
The Leeward Islands cricket team is a first class cricket team representing the member countries of the Leeward Islands Cricket Association, an associate of the West Indies Cricket Board. Antigua and Barbuda, Saint Kitts, Nevis, Anguilla, Montserrat, British Virgin Islands, US Virgin Islands and Sint Maarten are members of the Leeward Islands Cricket Association. Pakistani Cricket Team In The West Indies In 2016–17
The Pakistani national cricket team toured the West Indies from March 2017 to May 2017. The tour consisted of a series of three Test matches, three One Day Internationals (ODIs) and four Twenty20 internationals (T20Is). The West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) looked at the possibility of playing the T20I matches at the Central Broward Regional Park in Florida, as they did against India in August 2016. However, the WICB kept all the fixtures for this tour in the Caribbean. In January 2017, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) made an offer to the WICB to play two T20I matches in Pakistan.
