The Vauvise (french: la Vauvise) is a long river in the Cher department in central France. Its source is at Nérondes. It flows generally north. It is a left tributary of the Loire, into which it flows at Saint-Satur, near Sancerre. Geography An area of forestry and farming area comprising the village and several hamlets situated in the valley of the river Vauvise, about east of Bourges, at the junction of the D12 with the D93 and D72 roads. Thauvenay () is a commune in the Cher department in the Centre-Val de Loire region of France. Geography A winegrowing and farming village situated on the banks of both the river Vauvise and the Loire lateral canal, about northeast of Bourges at the junction of the D920 with the D206, D202 and the D159 roads. The commune is one of 14 permitted to grow grapes for Sancerre AOC wine. The Vauvise flows northwest through the middle of the commune; the Loire forms part of its northeastern boundary. Loire
The Loire (, also ; ; oc, Léger, ; la, Liger) is the longest river in France and the 171st longest in the world. With a length of , it drains , more than a fifth of France's land, while its average discharge is only half that of the Rhône. It rises in the southeastern quarter of the French Massif Central in the Cévennes range (in the department of Ardèche) at near Mont Gerbier de Jonc; it flows north through Nevers to Orléans, then west through Tours and Nantes until it reaches the Bay of Biscay (Atlantic Ocean) at Saint-Nazaire.
