The Holy See Press Office ( la, Sala Stampa Sanctae Sedis; it, Sala Stampa della Santa Sede, links=http://press.vatican.va/content/salastampa/it/) publishes the official news of the activities of the Pope and of the various departments of the Roman Curia. All speeches, messages, documents, as well as the statements issued by the Director, are published in their entirety. Role The press office operates every day in Italian, although texts in other languages are also available. On Saturday 27 June 2015 Pope Francis, through an apostolic letter or ''motu proprio'' ("on his own initiative") established the Secretariat for Communications in the Roman Curia; the Press Office was incorporated into it, but at the same time belongs to the Secretary of State. Gregory Burke
Gregory Burke (born 1968) is a Scottish playwright and screenwriter from Rosyth, Fife. Early life and education Burke's family moved to Gibraltar in 1979 and returned to Dunfermline in 1984. He attended St John's Primary in Rosyth, St Christopher's Middle School and Bayside Comprehensive in Gibraltar, and St Columba's High School, Dunfermline. He attended the University of Stirling for two years before dropping out. Works Burke's first play was ''Gagarin Way'', set in the factories of West Fife. His play ''Black Watch'', for the National Theatre of Scotland, debuted at the 2006 Edinburgh Festival Fringe, meeting with critical acclaim. Federico Lombardi
Federico Lombardi, S.J. (born 29 August 1942) is an Italian Catholic priest and the former director of the Holy See Press Office. He succeeded Joaquín Navarro-Valls and was succeeded by Greg Burke. Lombardi also serves as the postulator for the sainthood cause of Fr Bernardo Mattio. Early life and ordination Lombardi was born on 29 August 1942 in Saluzzo, Piedmont, Italy, and was trained in mathematics and studied theology in Germany. He became a Jesuit priest in 1972, and then worked for the influential Jesuit-run magazine, ''La Civiltà Cattolica'', and served as superior of the Jesuits' Italian province. Vatican Radio Lombardi was named program director (1991) and later director general (2005) of Vatican Radio. Joaquín Navarro-Valls
Joaquín Navarro-Valls, M.D. (November 16, 1936 – July 5, 2017) was a Spanish journalist, physician and academic who served as the Director of the Holy See Press Office from 1984 to 2006. His role as the press liaison between the Vatican and the world press corps gave him perhaps the highest visibility of any one person in the Vatican during the long reign of Pope John Paul II, with the exception of the Pope himself. He resigned his post July 11, 2006 and was replaced by Father Federico Lombardi. On January 20, 2007, he was named president of the board of advisers of the Biomedical University of Rome, an office he occupied until his death. Romeo Panciroli (born 21 November 1923 – 17 March 2006) was an Italian prelate of the Catholic Church who worked in communications until 1984 and then in the diplomatic service of the Holy See. Biography He was born in Reggio Emilia on 21 November 1923 and grew up in San Polo d'Enza. On 11 June 1949, he was ordained a priest of the Comboni Missionaries of the Heart of Jesus. He worked in Verona on the Comboni monthly magazine ''Nigrizia'' and then in Rome as secretary to the central committee for the Holy Year of 1950. He returned to Verona and taught ethics and philosophy and moved to Rome again to work for Messis Film, which produced documentaries and films. From 1959 to 1964 he worked at the apostolic delegation in Lagos, Nigeria.
