Vasudev Salgaocar
Vasudev Mahadeva Salgaocar (1916–1984) was an Indian businessman, and the founder and chairman of the V. M. Salgaocar Group of Companies, active mainly in iron ore mining, but also in coal mining and wind energy. He also founded Salgaocar Football Club in 1956, a professional football club who play in the I-League, are based in Vasco, Goa, and are owned by VIMSON, the Shivanand Salgaocar Group. Since his death, the company was led by his two sons, Shivanand V. Salgaocar and Dattaraj V. Salgaocar, joint managing directors until its split. Anil Salgaocar
Anil Vasudev Salgaocar (26 December 1940 – 1 January 2016) was an Indian mining businessman and a member of the Goa Legislative Assembly. Anil Salgaocar was born on 26 December 1940, as the son of Vasudev Salgaocar and brother of Shivanand Salgaocar and Dattaraj Salgaocar. He was the owner of Salgaocar Mining Industries Private Limited. Salgaocar died in Singapore on 1 January 2016, aged 75. Salgaocar was survived by his wife Lakshmi and two daughters, Chandana and Purnima, and his sons Sameer and Arjun, who are also active in politics. Salgaocar Football Club is an Indian professional football club based in Vasco, Goa, that competes in the Goa Professional League. They have also played in the I-League, then top flight of Indian football league system. Founded in 1956, the club is owned by the V. M. Salgaocar Group of Companies. Salgaocar has won 21 Goa League Championships, 4 Federation Cups, 3 Durand Cups, 3 Rovers Cups, 2 Indian Super Cups and the National Football League in 1998–99 and I-League in 2010–11. They became the first Goan side to win the NFL in 1998–99 under the guidance of coach Shabbir Ali. I-League
The I-League (known as Hero I-League for sponsorship ties with Hero MotoCorp) is the second-tier men's professional football competition of the Indian football league system. It is currently contested by 12 clubs across the country with the winners getting promotion to play in the premier division, the Indian Super League. The competition was founded in 2007 as the successor to the National Football League, with the first season starting in November 2007. Vasco Da Gama, Goa
Vasco da Gama (), often shortened to Vasco, is a city in the state of Goa on the west coast of India. It is named after the Portuguese explorer Vasco da Gama. It is the headquarters of the Mormugão taluka (subdistrict).
