Vasile Alecsandri
Vasile Alecsandri (; 21 July 182122 August 1890) was a Romanian patriot, poet, dramatist, politician and diplomat. He was one of the key figures during the 1848 revolutions in Moldavia and Wallachia. He fought for the unification of the Romanian Principalities, writing "Hora Unirii" in 1856 and giving up his candidacy for the title of prince of Moldavia, in favor of Alexandru Ioan Cuza. He became the first minister of foreign affairs of Romania and was one of the founding members of the Romanian Academy. Alecsandri was a prolific writer, contributing to Romanian literature with poetry, prose, several plays, and collections of Romanian folklore, being considered, alongside Mihai Eminescu, which admired and was inspired by the writings of Alecsandri, as one of the most important Romanian writers in the second half of the 19th century. László Vasile Gergely ( hu, Gergely László; born 28 October 1941) is a Romanian former football player and manager. Club career Vasile Gergely was born on 28 October 1941 in Baia Mare and started playing football in Divizia B at local club, CSM Baia Mare. Gergely made his Divizia A debut under coach Gheorghe Ola on 19 August 1962, playing for Viitorul București in a 7–0 home victory against Minerul Lupeni, but in the middle of the season the club dissolved and he went to play for Dinamo București, making just one appearance in the second half of the season as the club won the title. In the next two seasons, he helped the club win another two titles, appearing in 3 games in the first and in 20 in the second. Vasile Sebastian Dîncu (; born 25 November 1961) is a Romanian politician, sociologist, professor and writer who served as Deputy Prime Minister in the Cioloș Cabinet and was Minister of National Defence in the Ciucă Cabinet. Vasile Cârlova (; February 4, 1809 – September 18, 1831) was a Wallachian officer and early Romantic poet. Biography Born into a low-ranking Romanian boyar family in Buzău, Cârlova remained an orphan in 1816, and, after being adopted by an aunt, moved to Craiova. He studied together with Grigore Alexandrescu, learning Greek and French. In 1827, he wrote his first poem, ''Păstorul întristat'' (''The Sad Shepherd''), which was first published in 1830, with the help of Ion Heliade Rădulescu. Vasile Blaga (; born 26 July 1956) is a Romanian politician who was Speaker of the Upper Chamber of the Romanian Parliament, the Senate, from 2011 to 2012. He also served as Minister of Regional Development and Housing and twice as Minister of Administration and Internal Affairs. Vasile Atanasiu (April 25, 1886 – June 6, 1964) was a Romanian general in World War II. Biography He was born in Târgoviște, Romania in 1886, in a Greek-Romanian family, the son of Ștefan and Paulina Atanasiu. He graduated from the "Military School of Artillery, Combat Engineering and Navy officers" in 1907, with the rank of second lieutenant, being promoted lieutenant in 1910, captain in 1915, and major in 1917 during World War I. After the war he attended the Higher War School in Bucharest, graduating in 1920, when he was advanced to the rank of lieutenant colonel. After reaching the rank of colonel in 1928, and of brigadier general in 1935, Atanasiu was advanced to divisional general in 1940, before the beginning of World War II and to lieutenant general in 1942.
