Beach Volleyball At The 2018 Commonwealth Games – Women's Tournament
The women's beach volleyball tournament at the 2018 Commonwealth Games was held on the Gold Coast, Australia from April 6 to 12. The beach volleyball competition was held at Coolangatta Beachfront. This was the first time that beach volleyball was held at the Commonwealth Games. A total of twelve women's teams competed (24 athletes, at 2 per team). Competition schedule The following is the competition schedule for the women's tournament: Qualification A total of 12 men's teams qualified to compete at the games. Medalists Pools composition The 12 teams would be split into three groups of four, with the top two teams in each group along with the two best third place teams advancing to the knockout round. Canada was the top ranked nation, followed by Australia, New Zealand and Vanuatu. These four were placed in the three pools in a snake pattern. This page shows the all-time medal table for the Commonwealth Games since the first ''British Empire Games'' in 1930. The table is updated as of 8 August 2022, the day the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham ended. These rankings sort by the number of gold medals earned by a country. The number of silvers is taken into consideration next and then the number of bronze. If, after the above, countries are still tied, equal ranking is given and they are listed alphabetically. The 2022 Commonwealth Games, officially known as the XXII Commonwealth Games and commonly known as Birmingham 2022, was an international multi-sport event for members of the Commonwealth of Nations that took place in Birmingham, England between 28 July and 8 August 2022. Birmingham was announced as host on 21 December 2017. The Games marked England's third time hosting the Commonwealth Games after London 1934 and Manchester 2002, and the 7th Games held in the United Kingdom, with previous events in Wales and Scotland: Cardiff 1958, Edinburgh 1970 and 1986 and Glasgow 2014. This will be the second staging of beach volleyball at the Commonwealth Games since its debut four years prior, and therefore the first staging within England specifically. Both tournaments are scheduled to take place between 30 July and 7 August 2022. Schedule The competition schedule is as follows: Full match schedules were released on 1 July 2022. Venue The competitions will be held in a temporary Games-time venue at the brownfield site in Smithfield, named after the market that once stood in its place. Athletics was one of ten core sports that appeared at the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast. As a founding sport, athletics has appeared consistently since its introduction at the 1911 Inter-Empire Games; the recognized precursor to the Commonwealth Games. The competition took place between Sunday 8–15 April 2018 at the Carrara Stadium. The programme featured an expanded event set for para-athletes with a total of six men's and six women's events, re presenting doubling of the number para-events at the previous games.
