Vanna Howard
Vanna Howard is an American politician from Massachusetts. Howard, a Democrat, was elected to Massachusetts House of Representatives in 2020. She defeated 11 term incumbent David Nangle in the Democratic primary. Nangle had faced a federal fraud scandal less than a year prior. She was born in Cambodia later emigrating to Massachusetts and is the second representative of Cambodian descent in the Massachusetts legislature along with Rady Mom, who is also from Lowell. Massachusetts House of Representatives' 17th Middlesex district in the United States is one of 160 legislative districts included in the lower house of the Massachusetts General Court. David Nangle
David M. Nangle (born December 18, 1960) was an American state legislator that served in the Massachusetts House of Representatives from 1999 to 2020. He is a Lowell resident and a member of the Democratic Party. While a member of the House, he served as the chair of the House Ethics committee. In February 2021, Nangle pleaded guilty to charges of wire fraud, bank fraud, making false statements to a bank, and filing false tax returns. He is currently serving a 15 month prison sentence at FMC Devens until November 2022. Early life and education Nangle grew up in Lowell, Massachusetts and graduated from Lowell High School in 1978. Rady Mom
Rady Mom (born 1970) is an American politician and a representative in the Massachusetts House of Representatives, representing the 18th Middlesex district. The district was formerly represented by Kevin Murphy, who vacated his seat in 2014 when he was hired as the city manager of Lowell. Mom is the first Cambodian-American to be elected to the Massachusetts state Legislature as well as the first Cambodian American elected to a state legislature in the country. Early life and education Born in Pailin, Cambodia in 1970, the son of a ruby miner. When he was 10, his family was sent to a refugee camp by the Khmer Rouge. According to Mom, his entire family was on a list to be executed.
