Vanity Fair (1967 TV Serial)
''Vanity Fair'' is a BBC television drama serial adaptation of William Makepeace Thackeray's 1848 novel of the same name broadcast in 1967. It was the first drama serial in colour produced by the BBC. ''Vanity Fair'' starred Susan Hampshire as Becky Sharp. The serial was also broadcast in 1972 in the US on PBS television as part of ''Masterpiece Theatre'', and Hampshire received an Emmy Award for her portrayal in 1973. This was the second of four television adaptations of ''Vanity Fair'' produced by the BBC; other serials had been transmitted in 1956/57, in 1987, and in 1998. Dyson Lovell
Dyson Lovell (born 28 August 1936) is a British film producer and actor. He produced amongst others, Franco Zeffirelli's ''Hamlet'', starring Mel Gibson (1990), and Francis Ford Coppola's 1984 box-office flop '' The Cotton Club'', starring Richard Gere and Diane Lane. He has received four Emmy Award, and three Golden Globe nominations for his work as a producer in television. Lovell originally trained as an actor at RADA, and his early stage work included appearances at The Old Vic and small roles on Broadway. He has played supporting roles in such films as Franco Zeffirelli's 1968 version of ''Romeo and Juliet'', in which he played Sampson. Robert Flemyng
Benjamin Arthur Flemyng (3 January 1912 – 22 May 1995), known professionally as Robert Flemyng, was a British actor. The son of a doctor, and originally intended for a medical career, Flemyng learned his stagecraft in provincial repertory theatre. In 1935 he appeared in a leading role in the West End, and the following year had his first major success, in Terence Rattigan's comedy ''French Without Tears''. Between then and the Second World War he appeared in London and New York in a succession of comedies. On the outbreak of war in 1939 Flemyng volunteered for the Royal Army Service Corps, and served with distinction, winning the Military Cross. After the war he continued to appear in light comedies, but also took on more serious roles in plays by T. S. Eliot, Graham Greene, John Whiting and others. Richard Caldicot
Richard Caldicot (7 October 1908 – 16 October 1995) was an English actor famed for his role of Commander (later Captain) Povey in the BBC radio series ''The Navy Lark''. He also appeared often on television, memorably as the obstetrician delivering Betty Spencer's baby in ''Some Mothers Do 'Ave 'Em''. His father was a civil servant and he attended Dulwich College prior to training at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. He then appeared in repertory theatre and on the London stage from 1928. Thelma Barlow (''née'' Pigott; born 19 June 1929) is an English television actress and writer, known for her roles as Mavis Wilton in the long-running ITV soap opera ''Coronation Street'' and as Dolly Bellfield in the BBC One sitcom ''dinnerladies''. Early life Barlow was born in 1929 in Middlesbrough, North Riding of Yorkshire, the younger of two daughters. Her father, Tommy, a cabinet maker, died of pneumonia five weeks before her birth, aged 37, and Barlow was brought up by her mother Margaret. During her childhood the family moved to Huddersfield, West Riding of Yorkshire. Barlow left school at 15 and went to Huddersfield Technical College to study shorthand and typing. John Welsh (7 November 1914 – 21 April 1985) was an Irish actor. Biography Welsh was born in Wexford. After an early stage career in Dublin, he moved into British film and television in the 1950s. His roles included James Forsyte in the 1967 BBC dramatisation of John Galsworthy's ''The Forsyte Saga'' and Sir Pitt Crawley in Thackeray's Vanity Fair, as well as the waiter, Merriman in ''The Duchess of Duke Street'', Sgt.
