Guy Wood
Guy B. Wood (24 July 1911 – 23 February 2001) was a musician and songwriter born in Manchester, England. Wood started his career in music playing saxophone in dance bands in England. He moved to the United States in the 1930s, where he worked for Paramount Pictures and Columbia Pictures as well as serving as bandleader at the Arcadia Ballroom in New York. His songs include "Till Then", "My One and Only Love", " Shoo-Fly Pie and Apple Pan Dowdy". His song "Till Then" reached the pop charts three times (in 1944, 1954, and 1963). Wood also wrote songs for Captain Kangaroo and the Radio City Music Hall. Wood died on 23 February 2001. Bernard Bierman
Bernard Bierman (August 26, 1908 – November 5, 2012) was an American composer of popular songs. Biography Bierman was born in New York City. He studied pre-law and law at NYU and Brooklyn Law School, passing the bar in 1930. He practiced law until 1942 when he joined the U.S. Army where he served until 1945. After the war, he worked at the height of The Great American Songbook as a contracted songwriter for the music publisher Shapiro, Bernstein & Co. in NYC's Brill Building, in the historic Tin Pan Alley writing a multitude of songs performed by such artists as Sarah Vaughan, Frank Sinatra, Billy Eckstine, Harry James, Guy Lombardo, Sammy Kaye, Xavier Cugat and Jimmy Heath. Donald Ross Cherry (January 11, 1924 – April 4, 2018) was an American traditional pop music and big band singer and golfer. In music, he is best known for his 1955 hit " Band of Gold". Biography Cherry was born in Wichita Falls, Texas. He started in his early 20s as a big band singer in the orchestras of Jan Garber and Victor Young. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army Air Forces. In 1951, he recorded his first solo hits, " Thinking of You" and "Belle, Belle, My Liberty Belle". In 1955, came his biggest hit, "Band of Gold", which reached No. 4 on the ''Billboard'' chart. It sold over one million copies, and was awarded a gold disc. The track peaked at No. 6 in the UK Singles Chart. He had three more hits in 1956: "Wild Cherry", "Ghost Town", and "Namely You", all backed by orchestra leader Ray Conniff. ''There Goes My Everything'' is a studio album by American country music artist Jack Greene. It was released in December 1966 on Decca Records and was produced by Owen Bradley. It was Greene's debut studio album as a recording artist after playing in the band of Ernest Tubb for several years. Three singles were included in the album. Its biggest hit was the title track, which topped the country charts in 1966 and helped jump start Greene's music career. The album itself would also reach peak positions on the ''Billboard'' country chart following its release. Background and content ''There Goes My Everything'' came to be recorded through Greene's membership in Ernest Tubb's concert band. As a drummer and occasional vocalist, he was featured on Tubb's single, "The Last Letter", which brought him widespread attention.
