Vani (film)
''Vani'' (''Violinist'') is a 1943 Indian Kannada language musical drama film jointly directed by K. Hirannaiah and M. N. Gopal. Produced by T. Chowdaiah, the film featured himself in the lead role along with Bellary Lalitha and Bellary Rathnamala. Actress Pandari Bai and actor Musuri Krishnamurthy made their respective acting debuts in the film. Pandari Bai later became one of the most influential actresses in South Indian cinema. The film was shot and produced at Central Studios in Coimbatore. The film, although began shooting in 1940, took three years to finally release onto the screens. The film was a box-office failure and the producer incurred losses after the release. The film's highlight was the two reel length real classical concert of the classical exponent Chembai Vaidyanatha Bhagavathar being shot completely. Cast * T. Pandari Bai
Pandari Bai (1930 – 29 January 2003) was an Indian actress who worked in South Indian cinema, mostly in Kannada cinema during the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s. She is considered Kannada cinema's first successful heroine. She has acted as both heroine and mother to stalwarts such as Rajkumar, M. G. Ramachandran, Sivaji Ganesan. She was the heroine in Rajkumar's debut movie ''Bedara Kannappa'' and also Sivaji's debut movie '' Parasakthi''. She has acted in over 1,000 films in Kannada, Tamil, Telugu and Hindi. Bai was honoured by Kalaimamani from the Tamil Nadu government. Career Pandaribai began her career in acting in plays based on mythological stories before making her film debut in 1943 with the Kannada language film, ''Vani''. Musuri Krishnamurthy
Musuri Krishnamurthy (10 March 1930 – 16 March 1985) was an Indian actor, film director, producer, working in Kannada cinema. He was known mostly for his roles as a comedian. Early life Krishnamurthy was born on 10 March 1930 to B. S. Vishweshwaraiah and Subbamma. His father, Vishweshwaraiah was a zamindar in Bettadapura, Mysore. As a young boy, Krishnamurthy was drawn towards singing and acting. He exhibited his singing talent during a Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations in front of carnatic vocalist Musiri Subramania Iyer and the then Maharaja of Mysore, Krishna Raja Wadiyar IV. Having been impressed by his performance, the Maharaja compared him to Musiri Subramania Iyer, after which Krishnamurthy was known as Musuri Krishnamurthy to all. Central Studios was an Indian film studio in the neighbourhood of Singanallur, Coimbatore in Tamil Nadu, started by B.Rangaswamy Naidu (a.k.a. B. R. Musical film is a film genre in which songs by the characters are interwoven into the narrative, sometimes accompanied by dancing.
