Vangsvik or Vangsvika is a village in Senja Municipality in Troms og Finnmark county, Norway. The village has a population of about 350. The village has a school, Vangsvik Chapel, store, and medical office. There is also a large fish farming facility nearby. The Senja Rutebil (bus company) has its headquarters in Vangsvik. The village was the administrative centre of the old municipality of Tranøy until 1 January 2020 when it was merged into Senja Municipality. Vangsvik is located on the south side of the island of Senja, along the Solbergfjorden. It is about southwest of the town of Finnsnes in neighboring Lenvik municipality. Vangsvik is also about northeast of the village of Stonglandseidet and about from the village of Å. Vangsvik Chapel
Vangsvik Chapel ( no, Vangsvik kapell) is a parish church of the Church of Norway in Senja Municipality in Troms og Finnmark county, Norway. It is located in the village of Vangsvik. It is one of the churches for the Tranøy parish which is part of the Senja prosti (deanery) in the Diocese of Nord-Hålogaland. The concrete church was built in a fan-shaped design in 1975 using plans drawn up by the architect Alf Apalseth. The church seats about 150 people. Tranøy
Tranøy is a former municipality that was located in the old Troms county, Norway. The municipality is situated on the southern coast of the large island of Senja. The municipality existed from 1838 until its dissolution in 2020 when it was merged into the new Senja Municipality. The administrative centre was the village of Vangsvik in the eastern part of the municipality. Other important villages included Stonglandseidet, Skrollsvika, and Å. The nearly-abandoned island of Tranøya, with the 18th-century wooden Tranøy Church, used to be the centre of activities for the municipality. From Tranøybotn it is only a short walk to the Ånderdalen National Park, with varied landscapes within a very limited area, including deep pine forests. Senja is a municipality in Troms og Finnmark county, Norway. It was established on 1 January 2020 when the municipalities of Berg, Lenvik, Torsken, and Tranøy were merged into one municipality. It is located in the traditional district of Hålogaland. The administrative centre of the municipality is the town of Finnsnes. The municipality includes all of the island of Senja, the smaller surrounding islands, and part of the mainland between the Gisundet strait and the Malangen fjord. Lenvik ( sme, Leaŋgáviika) is a former municipality that was located in the old Troms county, Norway. The municipality existed from 1838 until its dissolution in 2020. The municipality was partly situated on the mainland and partly on the island of Senja in what is now Senja Municipality in Troms og Finnmark county.
