Vandaveer ( Mark Charles Heidinger) is an American, Louisville, KY-based indie-folk musical project, spearheaded by singer-songwriter Mark Charles Heidinger. Vandaveer has released five albums and three EPs since 2007, touring extensively throughout the US and Europe, logging over 1200 shows to date. History Vandaveer began performing as a solo artist in late 2006, releasing his debut record, ''Grace & Speed,'' in the spring of 2007 on the now-defunct DC label, Gypsy Eyes Records. Rose Guerin began singing with Vandaveer in mid-2007 and has been a permanent fixture since. Robby Cosenza, Justin Craig and J. Mark Charles (born Mark Charles Heidinger on May 8, 1977) is an American singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist from Louisville, Kentucky. Primarily known as the principal singer and songwriter for the indie-folk outfit Vandaveer, Mark began a solo career under his given name in 2020. Biography Mark was born in Canton, Ohio and grew up in and around Lexington, Kentucky. His music career began as the frontman for Kentucky-based indie-pop band The Apparitions. In 2004, Mark moved to Washington, D.C. and began performing under the name Vandaveer in early 2006. He also spent time as the bassist for DC's These United States. David Yow (born August 2, 1960) is an American musician and actor born in Las Vegas, Nevada and best known as the vocalist for the noise rock bands Scratch Acid and the Jesus Lizard. Yow's debut solo album, '' Tonight You Look Like a Spider'', was released in June 2013 on Joyful Noise Records. Indie folk is a music genre that arose in the 1990s among musicians from indie rock scenes influenced by folk music. Indie folk hybridizes the acoustic guitar melodies of traditional folk music with contemporary instrumentation.
