Vancouver Adapted Music Society (VAMS) is a not-for-profit organization that encourages, supports and promotes musicians with physical disabilities in Vancouver, Canada. Programs VAMS operates programs for people with varied musical skills, including karaoke, sessions for learners and intermediate musicians; it operates a fully equipped music studio and promotes live concerts. Studio Vancouver Adapted Music Society unveiled the country's most modern studio for musicians with disabilities in November 2008. Located at Vancouver's G. F. Strong Centre, the studio is designed for people with a wide range of disabilities and musical capabilities. It features industry-standard equipment including a 64-bit iMac running Logic Pro 9 Studio, Apogee Ensemble audio interface and Euphonix MC control. Logic Pro
Logic Pro is a digital audio workstation (DAW) and MIDI music sequencer, sequencer software application for the macOS platform. It was originally created in the early 1990s as Notator Logic, or Logic, by German software developer C-Lab which later went by Emagic. Apple Inc., Apple acquired Emagic in 2002 and renamed Logic to Logic Pro. It is the second most popular DAW – after Ableton Live – according to a survey conducted in 2015. A consumer-level version based on the same interface and audio engine but with reduced features, called Logic Express, was also available at a reduced cost. Apple's GarageBand comes free with all new Macintosh computers and iOS devices and is another application built on Logic's audio engine. Euphonix was a professional audio company located in Mountain View, California, United States. Euphonix produced the first successful line of large digitally controlled analog audio mixing consoles in the late 1980s and has since moved on to all-digital systems. Wide Mouth Mason
Wide Mouth Mason is a Canadian blues-based rock band, consisting of Shaun Verreault (Lead Vocals, Guitar) and Safwan Javed (Percussion, Backing Vocals). Former bassist Earl Pereira was also co-founder of Wide Mouth Mason. The band hails from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan and has been active since 1995. Career Wide Mouth Mason took its name from the jar of the same name, and independently released its first album, ''The Nazarene'' in 1996. Although only 2,500 copies were pressed, it still drew interest from the major labels. The band would re-record much of ''The Nazarene'' at Greenhouse Studios. The re-recorded tracks and new material attracted the attention of Warner Music Canada, who signed the band to a record deal. Daniel Wesley is a Canadian alternative rock musician from White Rock, British Columbia. Biography Singer and guitarist Wesley was born in 1981 in White Rock and raised in Brookswood, British Columbia, singing in choirs since elementary school and being part of ukulele and concert bands in high school. At age 15, he formed his first band, The Dropouts, and later was front man of the bands General Mayhem, Audiophile, and Replica. Jets Overhead are a Canadian alternative rock band formed in 2003 and based in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. Band history Formation and debut Singer Adam Kittredge conceived the name Jets Overhead while observing air traffic patterns in London, England. Jets Overhead was formed in 2003 by Kittredge, guitarist Piers Henwood (cousin of Kittredge), bassist Jocelyn Greenwood (high school friend of Kittredge), and the band's first drummer, Brendan Pye. Bob Dylan (legally Robert Dylan, born Robert Allen Zimmerman, May 24, 1941) is an American singer-songwriter. Sam Sullivan (born November 13, 1959) is a Canadian politician who had served as the MLA for Vancouver-False Creek. Donald L. Alder, or Don Alder, (born in Vancouver, BC, Canada) is a Canadian fingerstyle guitarist, singer, songwriter, composer, and speaker. Biography He spent his early childhood years in Montreal, before his family moved to Williams Lake, British Columbia. He has played guitar since age 11. In March 1985, Alder put his music career on hold to accompany his friend Rick Hansen on his Man in Motion world tour. The Sam Sullivan Disability Foundation, based in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, administers six affiliated societies that provide services for people with physical disabilities. History The Disability Foundation was formed by quadriplegic Sam Sullivan as the Reach Disability Foundation in June 1996 to provide services for people with physical disabilities. It was renamed in December 2001 following a legal challenge by a similarly named organization in Ottawa. Sullivan resigned as executive director of the Disability Foundation and its affiliated organizations in 2005 when he was elected Mayor of Vancouver. British Columbia Mobility Opportunities Society
British Columbia Mobility Opportunities Society (BCMOS) is a not-for-profit organization that enables people with disabilities in Vancouver, Canada, to explore the outdoors. Activities include hiking and gliding. Activities BCMOS was founded by quadriplegic Sam Sullivan in 1985 to make it possible for people with disabilities to access the outdoors. Activities range from day hikes to challenging treks. Since 1995, the centerpiece of BCMOS programs has been the TrailRider, a specially designed wilderness access vehicle. With one wheel, and "sherpas" back and front, the TrailRider has been likened to a cross between a wheelbarrow and a rickshaw. Yet it has twice summited Kilimanjaro, twice reached Everest Base Camp, and enabled thousands of day trips and family outings.
