Vanastree
Vanastree is a farming and conservation project registered in 2008, in Uttara Kannada, in the Indian state of Karnataka. In Kannada, Vanastree means "Women of the Forest". As of 2013, Vanastree numbered 150 women farming sustainably and it promotes seed exchange. By 2017, Vanastree products were available for sale in Bengaluru Bangalore (), officially Bengaluru (), is the capital and largest city of the Indian state of Karnataka. It has a population of more than and a metropolitan population of around , making it the third most populous city and fifth most ..., the capital of Karnataka. The same year, Vanastree was awarded the Nari Shakti Puraskar in recognition of its achievements. The Vanastree garden in Sirsi has saved seeds from over 100 types of vegetables. Nari Shakti Puraskar
The Nari Shakti Puraskar is an annual award given by the Ministry of Women and Child Development of the Government of India to individual women or to institutions that work towards the cause of women empowerment. It is the highest civilian honour for women in India, and is presented by the president of India on International Women's Day (8 March) at Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi. The award was instituted in 1999 under the title of Stree Shakti Puraskar, renamed and reorganised in 2015.
