New Netherland ( nl, Nieuw Nederland; la, Novum Belgium or ) was a 17th-century colonial province of the Dutch Republic that was located on the East Coast of the United States, east coast of what is now the United States. Anita van Lier (married name Beecheno-van Lier; born 19 April 1952) is a Dutch former international cricketer who represented the Dutch national team between 1978 and 1993, including as captain for a number of years. Van Lier made her debut for the Netherlands in 1978, on a tour of England. Her first international appearances came at the 1983 Centenary Tournament in Utrecht (featuring Denmark and Ireland), by which time she had been appointed captain. Coenraad Van Lier
Coenraad van Lier (6 January 1836 – 20 January 1903) was a Surinamese physician, politician, and military officer. He established the first medical school in Suriname. Biography Van Lier was born on 6 January 1836 in Paramaribo. He joined the Royal Netherlands Army, and studied at the Rijks Kweekschool voor Militaire Geneeskundigen in Utrecht. In 1856, he graduated Officer of Health 3rd Class. In 1861, he graduated Doctor of Medicine at the University of Utrecht, and was promoted Officer of Health 2nd Class. In 1865, he was granted dismissal from the army, and became a medical doctor in Paramaribo. In 1868, van Lier was appointed second city doctor. In 1877, he was elected to the Colonial Estates. Healthcare in Suriname was limited outside of the capital Paramaribo. In 1880, he forwarded a motion to establish a medical school which passed the Estates, however the States General of the Netherlands removed the plan from the budget. Josephine van Lier (born 1968, in the Netherlands) is a performing cellist specialized in both baroque and contemporary cello residing in Canada. Biography A versatile musician, Josephine van Lier is equally at ease on a baroque cello or a 5 string violoncello piccolo as on their contemporary counterparts, using instruments and bows whose designs, construction and material span over 400 years in origin; from the gut strings of her baroque cello to her 1870 cello and the space-age material of her carbon fiber cello. She therefore covers a wide variety of repertoire utilizing the endless possibilities that this range of instruments, string set-ups and bows allow her. In 2010 she released a 4-CD set featuring all six suites for unaccompanied cello by Bach played on four different cellos. Norman Allen Van Lier III (April 1, 1947 – February 26, 2009) was an American professional basketball player and television broadcaster who spent the majority of his career with the Chicago Bulls. Early life Norman Van Lier was born in East Liverpool, Ohio to Helen and Norm Sr., who worked in a steel mill for 31 years. He was raised, along with three brothers and a sister, in Midland, Pennsylvania. Van Lier had three other brothers who died after birth; he named one of them Elgin Baylor Van Lier I. Van Lier would look back fondly to his childhood playing tackle football with a taped coffee can for a ball due to their circumstances.
