Valsain Valley
Valsain Valley (Spanish language, Spanish: ''Valle de Valsaín'') is a valley of the northern slope of the Sierra de Guadarrama, Guadarrama mountain range (Sistema Central, Sistema central mountain range). It is located in the southeastern part of the province of Segovia (Castilla y León, Spain), within the municipality of Real Sitio de San Ildefonso, and borders the Community of Madrid. The valley is covered by an extensive Pinus sylvestris, pine forest known as el Pinar, the largest in the mountains and one of the best preserved in Spain. Geography Oriented from south to north, it has an average width of 6 km and an approximate length of 9 km, which makes it one of the largest valleys of the Sierra de Guadarrama, along with the Lozoya Valley. Puerto De Navacerrada
The Navacerrada Pass (Spanish: ''Puerto de Navacerrada''; ) is a mountain pass in the Guadarrama Mountains, in the centre of the Iberian Peninsula. In 1788, it replaced the Fuenfría Pass as mountain pass in the route crossing the Sierra de Guadarrama connecting the Spanish cities of Madrid and Segovia. Segovia
Segovia ( , , ) is a city in the autonomous community of Castile and León, Spain. It is the capital and most populated municipality of the Province of Segovia. La Mujer Muerta
La Mujer Muerta (English translation: “The Dead Woman”) is a subrange of the Sierra de Guadarrama, Sistema Central, located in Segovia Province, Spain. The silhouette of the mountain range takes the shape of a reclining woman with when seen from certain angles, hence its name which means "dead woman" in the Spanish language. The highest point is La Pinareja (2197 m). Legends There are many legends that try to explain the name, ''La Mujer Muerta'', with the mountains La Pinareja, Peña el Oso, and Pico de Pasapán that form, when viewed from the city, the body of a woman that is dead or sleeping. One story is that the woman's husband went off to war and failed to keep his promise that he would return and marry her. She died of a broken heart and that is her body in the mountain. According to this, the peak of La Pinareja corresponds to the face of the woman laying on her back. The peak of Peña el Oso corresponds to her arms crossed over her chest.
