Elmer Valo
Elmer William Valo (March 5, 1921 – July 19, 1998), born Imrich Valo, was a Slovak American professional baseball right fielder, coach, and scout in Major League Baseball (MLB). He batted left-handed and threw right-handed. Playing in the major leagues for 20 seasons between and , Valo batted .282, with 58 home runs, and 601 runs batted in (RBI), in 1,806 games, with most of his time spent as a member of the Athletics franchise, which was then located in Philadelphia and Kansas City. Early years A native of Rybník, Czechoslovakia, Valo emigrated to the United States with his family at the age of six. Career Valo played for Federalsburg of the Eastern Shore League in 1939, and for Wilmington in the Interstate League in 1940. Valo's big-league playing career was affected by three franchise relocations. Iconcrash
Iconcrash is a Finnish electrorock/ darkwave band from Helsinki, formed by vocalist/composer Jaani Peuhu. Now the band members include Arttu Juntunen, keyboard and backing vocals, Riku-Niilo Mattila bass, Matti Toivonen, guitar and Oskari Vilmunen, drums. The English-Finnish record company Parole Records published their debut album Nude in spring 2005, after which the live band was assembled. Their second album Enochian Devices was published in spring 2010 with the collaboration of Dynasty Recordings and EMI Finland. The album was recorded at Dynasty Studios and at Sonic Pump and the production lasted over a year. The album was received well and the singles Strange, Strange Dark Star and Everlasting got plenty of radio play and reached the top of YleX:s most wanted list. Ville Valo
Ville Hermanni Valo (; born 22 November 1976) is a Finnish singer, songwriter and musician. He is best known as the lead vocalist of the gothic rock band HIM. Born and raised in Helsinki to a Hungarian mother and Finnish father, Valo began his career playing bass and drums in various bands around the city. In 1991, he co-founded and became the lead singer and main songwriter of HIM, which would go on to become one of the most successful Finnish bands of all time and the first to receive a gold record in the United States. Outside of HIM, Valo has collaborated with various other bands and artists during his career, including Agents, The 69 Eyes, and Apocalyptica. VALO-CD, a distribution of open-source software on a CD for Microsoft Windows, aims to spread knowledge and the use of open-source software. VALO-CD originates from Finland, and was originally available only in Finnish. Since version 7, an international version of VALO-CD has also been available in English. The acronym ''VALO'' means "Free/Libre Open-Source Software" in Finnish. is also a Finnish word that means "light". Therefore the name of the project has a connotation of bringing enlightenment. The Finnish version of VALO-CD had the special goal of concentrating on completely localized open-source software. The Adelaide 500 (also known as the VALO Adelaide 500 for sponsorship reasons) is an annual motor racing event for Supercars held on the streets of the east end of Adelaide, South Australia between 1999 to 2020 and again from 2022. It is sometimes known by its previous sponsored name of the Clipsal 500. The event uses a shortened form of the Adelaide Street Circuit, the former Australian Grand Prix track. It generally took place in February and March, contributing to what locals term "mad March", along with the Adelaide Festival, Adelaide Fringe, WOMADelaide and Adelaide Writers' Week.
