Valletta International Baroque Festival
The Valletta International Baroque Festival is one of the largest music festivals of Malta. It was founded by its present Artistic Director Kenneth Zammit Tabona in 2013. The programmatic focus is on Baroque music, baroque and early music. History Since its establishment in 2013, the ''Valletta International Baroque Festival'' is held every year in January and organized by the direction of Manoel Theatre. The concerts and opera performances are presented in several Baroque buildings in the city of Valletta. Among the artists who have performed at the festival are Mahan Esfahani, Philippe Herreweghe, Christophe Rousset, and Jordi Savall. Malta Philharmonic Orchestra
The Malta Philharmonic Orchestra is recognized as Malta’s foremost musical institution. Founded in 1968 as the Manoel Theatre Orchestra, in September 1997 it became an independent body and was officially named as Malta's national orchestra. In 2008, it expanded into a full-size orchestra and became the MPO. History The orchestra was founded in April 1968, when musicians from the defunct “Commander-in-Chief” (C-in-C) orchestra of the Malta-based British Mediterranean Fleet regrouped as the Manoel Theatre Orchestra. Joanne Camilleri (born 1982) is a Maltese pianist and harpsichordist. Music education Joanne completed her early music education in Malta through the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music. She was recommended for an international scholarship based on her grade 8 ABRSM exam performance, but could not pursue it due to her age. She completed two performance diplomas from Trinity College of Music and, at 18, was accepted to the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester on a full international scholarship. She also placed first in the Bice Mizzi Vassallo Music Competition, allowing her to attend the Lake District Summer Music Academy, where she worked with international pianists and chamber ensembles. Between her undergraduate studies, she obtained a Licentiate of the Royal Schools of Music (LRSM) in Performance with a grade of Distinction. Johanna Beisteiner
Johanna Beisteiner (born 20 February 1976) is an Austrian classical guitarist, singer and arranger. Life Johanna Beisteiner received her first guitar lessons at the age of nine at the Josef Matthias Hauer music school in her hometown Wiener Neustadt. In 1992, when only sixteen years of age, she became a student at the University of Music and Performing Arts, Vienna, from where she graduated as a concert guitarist as well as a Doctor of philosophy with a PhD Thesis on ''Art music in figure skating, synchronized swimming and rhythmic gymnastics''. Michelle Castelletti (born 1974) is a Malta, Maltese conductor. Michelle Castelletti has studied at the University of Malta, Canterbury Christ Church University, and New College, Oxford, New College, University of Oxford. She worked with orchestras such as the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra, BBC Philharmonic and Hallé Orchestra. On 26 January 2017, she conducted the world premiere of Reuben Pace's Concertino for Guitar, Harpsichord and Orchestra at Manoel Theatre during the Valletta International Baroque Festival.
