Vallejo ( ; ) is a city in Solano County, California and the second largest city in the North Bay region of the Bay Area. Located on the shores of San Pablo Bay, the city had a population of 126,090 at the 2020 census. Vallejo is home to the California Maritime Academy, Touro University California and Six Flags Discovery Kingdom. Vallejo is named after Mariano Guadalupe Vallejo, the famed Californio general and statesman. The city was founded in 1851 on General Vallejo's Rancho Suscol to serve as the capital city of California, which it served as from 1852 to 1853, when the Californian government moved to neighboring Benicia, named in honor of General Vallejo's wife Benicia Carrillo de Vallejo. The following year in 1854, authorities founded the Mare Island Naval Shipyard, which defined Vallejo's economy until the turn of the 21st century. Vallejo Estate
The Vallejo Estate is a historic house in Sonoma, California, one of the six sites that comprises the Sonoma State Historic Park. The estate was owned by General Mariano Guadalupe Vallejo, a ''Californio'' military leader and landowner. Vallejo began buying the acreage for the house after returning from the California constitutional convention in Monterey in 1849, and resided in the house from 1852 until his death in 1890. He named the house ''Lachryma Montis'' (mountain tear), a rough Latin translation of ''Chiucuyem'' (crying mountain) – the Native American name for the free-flowing spring on the property. Developing the estate Vallejo's home was built beside the spring and its pool in 1851–1852. The two-story, wood-frame house was prefabricated, designed and built on the east coast of United States. Vallejo Flour Mill
The first Vallejo Flour Mill, in the Niles district of Fremont, California, was built in 1853 by José de Jesús Vallejo (1798–1882), elder brother of General Mariano Guadalupe Vallejo, on his Rancho Arroyo de la Alameda. The Flour Mill was located at the mouth of Niles Canyon, then called ''Alameda Cañon'', which served as the major course of Alameda Creek. A second Flour Mill was built in 1856, the stone foundation of which may still be seen today. The ruins of the Vallejo Flour Mill is located at the northeast corner of Niles Canyon Road ( State Route 84) and Mission Boulevard ( State Route 238) in Vallejo Mill Historical Park. In 1932, it was designated a California Historical Landmark (#46). The ''Vallejo'' is a houseboat in Sausalito, California, United States. It was originally a passenger ferry in Portland, Oregon, known as ''O&CRR Ferry No. 2'', in the late 19th century. After falling into disuse in Portland, it was transported to the San Francisco Bay in California, where it was used as a ferry between Vallejo, California, Vallejo and Mare Island until the end of World War II. It was later purchased by a group led by artist Jean Varda, and repurposed as a houseboat, where a number of parties and salons were hosted by leading figures in the San Francisco area counterculture scene of the 1960s and '70s. Vallejo is an American rock band founded by three Vallejo brothers: AJ Vallejo (eldest twin), Alex Vallejo (younger twin) & Omar Vallejo (youngest brother) (in Austin, Texas, but born & raised in El Campo, Texas later moving to Alabaster, Alabama, a suburb of Birmingham, Alabama during their pre-teen years. The band has released 12 full-length albums starting back in 1991 with their self-titled debut 'Sins' on the now-defunct Birmingham, AL indie label, Chapel Lane. After their move to Austin, TX January of 1995 the group performed at Austin's legendary Steamboat's Wednesday weekly residency for a full year writing and recording what would become their first major label release 1997's ''Shining Sun'' after being signed to TVT Records during a SXSW showcase. The album gained rave reviews kicking open many doors for Vallejo who went on to tour nationwide becoming a 'dangerous live act' as described by AustinLive.
