Valerio Lazzeri
Valerio Lazzeri (born 22 July 1963) is a Swiss prelate of the Catholic Church who was bishop of Lugano from 2013 to 2022. Biography Valerio Lazzeri was born in Dongio on 22 July 1963. He carried out his studies from 1982 to 1987 at the San Carlo diocesan seminary, which was then based in the Salesianum boarding school in Friborg, and at the University of Fribourg, where he obtained a licentiate in theology in 1987. He continued his studies at the Pontifical Lombard Seminary in Rome (1987-1989) and at the Pontifical Gregorian University (1987-1988). On 2 September 1989 he was ordained a priest by the bishop of Lugano Eugenio Corecco in the Lugano Cathedral. In 1991 he obtained his doctorate in theology at the Pontifical theological faculty Teresianum in Rome. From 1991 to 1993 he was vice-rector and teacher in the in Ascona. Diego Causero (born 13 January 1940) is an Italian prelate of the Catholic Church who spent his career in the diplomatic service of the Holy See. From 1992 to 2015, he served as the head of the Vatican's diplomatic mission in several African and European countries. Biography Diego Causero was born in Moimacco in the Province of Udine, Italy, on 13 January 1940. He studying at the seminary in Udine, he continued his studies at the Pontifical Gregorian University from 1959 to 1964 and was ordained a priest of the Archdiocese of Udine on 7 April 1963. He earned a doctorate in theology in 1966, with a specialty in liturgy, at the Pontifical Atheneum of St. Anselm. Ascona

The town is a popular tourist destination and holds the yearly Ascona Jazz Festival. History Prehistory The oldest archaeological finds in Ascona (at S. Materno and S. Michele) go back to the beginnings of the Late Bronze Age. During the expansion of the cemetery in 1952, a necropolis was discovered at S. Materno, where 21 cremation urns were discovered. The urns were either simply buried or covered with a stone slab box. They contained cremated bones and, in some cases, bronze grave goods. Of particular interest are the bronze brooches, which are among the oldest that have been found so far in Switzerland.
