Valerio Alesi
Valerio Alesi (born September 5, 1966) is a Canadian former professional soccer player. Born in Hamilton, Ontario, Alesi became the first Canadian-born player to play in the Serie A of the Italian football league system when he joined Ascoli Calcio in 1984. After several seasons with Ascoli, he joined lower division side A.C. Maceratese in the early 1990s. Hamilton is a port city in the Canadian province of Ontario. Ascoli Calcio 1898 F.C., commonly referred to as Ascoli, is an Italian football club based in Ascoli Piceno, Marche. The club was formed in 1898 and currently plays in Serie B. The team traditionally play in vertical black and white stripes. The Italian football league system, also known as the Italian football pyramid, refers to the hierarchically interconnected league system for association football in Italy. It consists of nine national and regional tournaments, the first three being professional, while the remaining six are amateur, set up by the Italian Football Federation.
