''Valentín de la Sierra'' is a 1968 Mexican film directed by René Cardona and starring Antonio Aguilar. The film is inspired by the corrido of the same name, a dramatization of the death of Cristero rebel Valentín Ávila Ramírez. The setting of the film was changed to the earlier Mexican Revolution. René Cardona
René Cardona (October 8, 1905 in Havana, Cuba – April 25, 1988, in Mexico City) was a director, actor, producer, screenwriter, and film editor in the Golden Age of Mexican cinema. Biography René Cardona was born in Havana, Cuba, on October 8, 1905, and began medical school in Cuba, but due to the political problems of the island, he and his family moved to New York City in 1926, where he continued his studies. Economic circumstances experienced by his family caused him to leave his studies. He befriended famous actor Rodolfo Valentino and obtained work as an extra in several films, until 1929 when he produced, wrote, directed and starred in the first Spanish-language film made in Hollywood, ''Sombras habaneras'' (''Havana Shadows''). He also had the opportunity to work in various positions in the film industry such as second assistant, technical advisor and first assistant director, and learned film and lighting technique. Alejandro Reyna
Alejandro Reyna, also known as "El Tío Plácido", was a Mexican comic character actor and singer. Reyna usually appeared in films starring Antonio Aguilar. Reyna received a starring role as "Plácido Buenavista" in '' El ojo de vidrio''. Born in Torreón, Coahuila, Reyna sang norteña music in the group "El Tío Plácido con sus Sobrinos". He appeared in films for the first time in 1958 and left cinema in 1982. After many minor roles, Reyna was given a special billing in '' Caballo prieto azabache''. Texcoco De Mora
Texcoco de Mora () is a city located in the State of Mexico, 25 km northeast of Mexico City. Texcoco de Mora is the municipal seat of the municipality of Texcoco. In the pre-Hispanic era, this was a major Aztec city on the shores of Lake Texcoco. After the Conquest, the city was initially the second most important after Mexico City, but its importance faded over time, becoming more rural in character. Over the colonial and post-independence periods, most of Lake Texcoco was drained and the city is no longer on the shore and much of the municipality is on lakebed. María Lucila Beltrán Ruiz (7 March 1932 – 24 March 1996), known professionally as Lola Beltrán, was a Mexican actress and singer. Beltrán is and was one of Mexico's most acclaimed singers of Ranchera and Huapango music. Enriqueta "Queta" Jiménez Chabolla (4 July 1933 – 21 September 2021), known by her stage name La Prieta Linda ("The Beautiful Dark-skinned Woman"), was a Mexican singer and actress. She was part of the Golden Age of Mexican cinema. Early life La Prieta Linda was born on 4 July 1933 in Salamanca, Guanajuato, and later grew up in central Mexico City. Ricardo Garibay
Ricardo Garibay (January 18, 1923 – May 3, 1999) was a Mexican writer and journalist. He studied law at the National Autonomous University of Mexico, where he was also a professor of literature. He also served as the chief of press for the Secretariat of Public Education and hosted the television program "Kaleidoscope" on the Imevisión Channel 13 network, Imevisión. He was president of the College of Sciences and Arts of Hidalgo in Pachuca.
