Valentina Semerenko
Valentyna Oleksandrivna Semerenko ( uk, Валентина Олександрівна Семеренко), known also as Valya Semerenko () and featuring in statistics as Valj Semerenko (born 18 January 1986) is a Ukrainian biathlete. She is Olympic and World champion, multiple World championships medalist, and one of the most successful Ukrainian winter athletes. Career When she was in the fourth grade of elementary school, she took up cross-country skiing together with her twin sister Vita. But later, they decided to switch to biathlon. She began competing internationally a year earlier than Vita. In 2004 she took part at Junior World Championships in Maurienne, France. In 2005 she won two medals at Junior World and one at Junior European Championships. On 17 December 2005, she debuted in Biathlon World Cup. Krasnopillia (town)
Krasnopillia ( uk, Краснопілля) is an urban-type settlement in Sumy Oblast (province), located in the historic region of the Sloboda Ukraine. It was formerly the administrative seat of Krasnopillia Raion, but is now within Sumy Raion. The settlement is away from Sumy, the regional center, and has a population of Location The town is located near the Syrovatka River which is a left tributary of the Psel River. Krasnopillia is situated in a close proximity to the Russia–Ukraine border. History The town appeared in 1640 as a fort of the ''Belgorod Defense Line'' which Tsardom of Russia, Russian forces erected in Sloboda Ukraine to secure state southern borders from raids of Crimean Tatars and Nogais. Biathlon World Championships 2013
The 46th Biathlon World Championships was held in Nové Město na Moravě, Czech Republic, from 7 to 17 February 2013. There were a total of 11 competitions: sprint, pursuit, individual, mass start and relay races for both men, women and a mixed relay.
