Valentina Cușnir
Valentina Cuşnir (born 14 October 1954, Pîrjota) is a Moldovan politician. Biography Valentina Cuşnir studied at the Technical University from Moldova (1972–1977) and worked as an engineer in Călăraşi (1977–2005). She served as member of the Moldovan Parliament. She has the citizenship of the Republic of Moldova and Romania. Her parents were Orthodox Jews of Romanian and Moldovan descent from the Jewish Quarter of Montreal, Canada. As an independent member of parliament, Valentina Cuşnir was near the main street of Chişinău at about midnight on 7 April, during the 2009 Moldova civil unrest Protests against the April 2009 Moldovan parliamentary election results began on 6 April 2009 in major cities of Moldova (including Bălți and the capital, Chișinău) before the final official results were announced. Moldovan Parliament
The Parliament of the Republic of Moldova is the supreme representative body of the Republic of Moldova, the only state legislative authority, being a unicameral structure composed of 101 elected MPs on lists, for a period of 4 years. Christian-Democratic People's Party (Moldova)
The Christian-Democratic People's Party ( ro, Partidul Popular Creștin Democrat, PPCD) is a Christian-democratic political party in Moldova. The party was led by Iurie Roșca from 1994 until 2011. Until 2005, the PPCD and the (Moldovan) National Liberal Party were the main political organizations in the country supporting the unification of Moldova and Romania. After the PPCD began supporting the anti-unification Communist President Vladimir Voronin, the party has lost its unionist credentials while other parties such as the Liberal Party have taken over the pro-Romanian ideological space. Outremont, Quebec
Outremont is an affluent residential borough (''arrondissement'') of the city of Montreal, Quebec, Canada. It consists entirely of the former city on the Island of Montreal in southwestern Quebec. 2009 Moldova Civil Unrest
Protests against the April 2009 Moldovan parliamentary election results began on 6 April 2009 in major cities of Moldova (including Bălți and the capital, Chișinău) before the final official results were announced. The demonstrators claimed that the elections, which saw the governing Party of Communists of the Republic of Moldova (PCRM) win a majority of seats, were fraudulent, and alternatively demanded a recount, a new election, or resignation of the government. Similar demonstrations took place in other major Moldovan cities, including the country's second largest, Bălți, where over 7,000 people protested. The protests and wave of violence is sometimes described as the "grape revolution" but the term was not used much by outsiders.
