Vale Royal (Jamaica)
Vale Royal is the official residence of the Prime Minister of Jamaica. It is located on Montrose Road in Kingston 10, Jamaica. History Constructed in 1694, as Prospect Pen, by Sir William Taylor, it became the property of Scottish sugar planter, Patrick Tailzour, following his marriage to Martha Taylor, daughter of George Hanbury Taylor and Mary, of Caymanas, Jamaica. In turn he who would pass it in to his Jamaican born son Simon. Simon never married, instead electing to father children with his slaves, and Free Jamaicans of color; on his death the property would pass to his nephew, Sir Simon Richard Brissett Taylor, the son of his brother Sir John. On Sir Simon's death the property would pass to his sister Anna Susannah (1781-1853), and her planter husband George Watson-Taylor (1770-1841), the fourth son of George Watson of Saul's River, Jamaica. Vale Royal Abbey
Vale Royal Abbey is a former medieval abbey and later country house in Whitegate England. The precise location and boundaries of the abbey are difficult to determine in today's landscape. The original building was founded c. 1270 by the Lord Edward, later Edward I for Cistercian monks. Edward had supposedly taken a vow during a rough sea crossing in the 1260s. Civil wars and political upheaval delayed the build until 1272, the year he inherited the throne. The original site at Darnhall was unsatisfactory, so was moved a few miles north to the Delamere Forest. Edward intended the structure to be on a grand scale—had it been completed it would have been the largest Cistercian monastery in the country—but his ambitions were frustrated by recurring financial difficulties. Thomas Baylies (1687–March 1756) was a Quaker ironmaster first in England, then in Massachusetts. Origins and family Thomas Baylies was the son of Nicholas Baylies of Alvechurch in north Worcestershire. On 5 June 1706, he married Esther, daughter of Thomas Seargeant of Fulford Heath, in Solihull in a Quaker ceremony at which 38 witnesses were present. They had eight children. Esther's sister Mary married Abraham Darby I. Coalbrookdale By 1714, Baylies had joined his brother-in-law, Abraham Darby, at his Coalbrookdale ironworks, becoming a partner with him and John Chamberlain. Together they built a second blast furnace at Coalbrookdale and secured the rights to build a furnace at Dolgûn near Dolgellau and taking over Vale Royal Furnace in 1718. Vale Royal Methodist Church
Vale Royal Methodist Church, also historically Vale Royal Chapel and Vale Royal Wesleyan Methodist Church, was a Methodist Church of Great Britain parish church in Royal Tunbridge Wells, Kent, England. It was opened in 1873 and stopped being used as a church on Easter 2015. It was later renovated to become a gym. History The founder of Methodism, John Wesley, visited Tunbridge Wells in his early years as a preacher and gained a small congregation there. Meetings initially took place in the Presbyterian chapel at Little Mount Sion, which had opened in 1721; Wesley preached there "on several occasions". Royal West Academy (commonly referred to as Royal West or RWA; french: Académie Royal West) is a public alternative English-speaking Quebecker, anglophone secondary school in Montreal West, Quebec. Royal West has limited enrollment, and prospective students are only admitted after an entrance examination and interview. Royal West Academy is part of the English Montreal School Board (EMSB). History The grounds where Royal West is now located once belong to the Aberdeen School of Coteau Saint-Pierre, founded in 1894. It was renamed Montreal West High School in 1921.
