Valdosta State University (VSU or Valdosta State) is a public university in Valdosta, Georgia. It is one of the four comprehensive universities in the University System of Georgia. , VSU had over 12,000 undergraduate and graduate students. VSU also offers classes at Moody Air Force Base north of Valdosta in Lowndes County. Degree levels offered at Valdosta State include associate, bachelor's, master's, Education Specialist, and doctoral degree. The university is composed of the Colleges of the Arts, College of Business Administration, College of Education and Human Services, College of Humanities and Social Sciences, College of Nursing and Health Sciences, College of Science and Mathematics. West Hall (Valdosta State University)
West Hall, built in 1917, is the oldest building at Valdosta State University and features a distinctive dome and Spanish-mission architecture. It is also the center of academic activity at VSU, with numerous classrooms, departments, and offices. West Hall is named in honor of Colonel W.S. West, who as a Georgia state senator, led the legislation for the creation of a college in Valdosta through the Georgia Senate and donated the property that is now the main part of campus to the state for use by the new institution.Davis, Deborah. Wild Adventures
Wild Adventures (known previously as Liberty Farms) is a zoological theme park in Clyattville, Georgia, which is located south of Valdosta, Georgia, United States. It is owned by Herschend Family Entertainment and has been managed by Jon Vigue since January 2019. The park features rides and attractions, including six roller coasters, exotic animals, shows, Splash Island water park and concerts from country, pop, rock, Christian, and oldies superstars. The park is located just off of Interstate 75. History Kent Buescher, the founder of Wild Adventures, started the park with his wife, Dawn, on a plot of farmland outside of Valdosta, Georgia in 1996 for around $10 million. Valdosta Mall
Valdosta Mall is an enclosed shopping mall located in Valdosta, Georgia, United States. It is composed of more than 70 stores and restaurants in of gross leasable area. Belk, and JCPenney, are the mall's anchor stores. The wing featuring JCPenney was part of a 1985 expansion. An Additional Vacant Anchor was previously a Sears which closed in 2018. In 2006, an outdoor concourse was added to the mall's front face, bringing in Old Navy, PetSmart, Office Depot and Ross Dress For Less as junior anchors. In 2007, the JCPenney store expanded greatly, taking over some of the space vacated when the old movie theater moved across the street. The mall was formerly known as Colonial Mall Valdosta under the ownership of Colonial Properties Trust who sold the mall to Jones Lang LaSalle in 2007.
