Valcolla
Valcolla is a quarter of the city of Lugano and former municipality in the district of Lugano in the canton of Ticino in Switzerland. On 14 April 2013 the former municipalities of Bogno, Cadro, Carona, Certara, Cimadera, Sonvico and Valcolla merged into the municipality of Lugano. Geography Valcolla is in the upper section of the Val Colla, the mountain valley in which the Cassarate River rises. Before the merger, Valcolla had a total area of . Of this area, or 4.9% is used for agricultural purposes, while or 51.9% is forested. Of the rest of the land, or 3.4% is settled (buildings or roads), or 0.4% is either rivers or lakes and or 10.6% is unproductive land. Of the built up area, housing and buildings made up 2.2% and transportation infrastructure made up 0.5%. Cimadera is a former municipality in the district of Lugano in the canton of Ticino in Switzerland. On 14 April 2013 the former municipalities of Bogno, Cadro, Carona, Certara, Cimadera, Valcolla and Sonvico merged into the municipality of Lugano. History Cimadera is first mentioned in 1422 as ''cima d'Era''. The village was originally an alpine herding camp for the inhabitants of the village Treciore which was part of the town of Sonvico. After the plague of 1525, they settled there permanently. In the 16th century it belonged to the '' Kastlanei'' and parish of Sonvico. In 1878 the municipality was created when it separated from Sonvico to become an independent municipality and parish. The chapel of St. Anthony of Padua dates from the 17th century. Val Colla
The Val Colla is a valley and a quarter of the city of Lugano in the Swiss canton of Ticino, to the north-east of the city of Lugano. It includes the localities of Bogno, Valcolla, Certara, Cimadera, Sonvico, which are all part of the city of Lugano, and the municipality of Capriasca. The valley contains the Cassarate River and its headwaters. To the north the valley is flanked by Monte Bar and Monte Gazzirola. Ponte Capriasca is a municipality in the district of Lugano in the canton of Ticino in Switzerland. History Ponte Capriasca is first mentioned in 1335 as ''Ponte''.
