Vakhtang Mikheilis dze Chabukiani (Russian: Вахта́нг Миха́йлович Чабукиа́ни, ka, ვახტანგ ჭაბუკიანი) (March 12, 1910 – April 6, 1992) was a Soviet and Georgian ballet dancer, choreographer and teacher. He is considered to be one of the most influential male ballet dancers of the 20th century, and is noted for creating the choreography of several of the most famous male variations of the classical ballet repertory, for example in '' Le Corsaire'', ''La Bayadère'', and ''Swan Lake''. Baktangios ( el, Βακτάγγιος; died 743) was a Byzantine ''patrikios'' and one of the principal supporters of the usurping emperor Artabasdos (). Baktangios was probably of Georgian descent, his name being a Hellenized form of " Vakhtang". According to Christian Settipani, he may have been a scion of King Vakhtang I of Iberia. Baktangios was closely associated with Artabasdos, a commander of Armenian origin, who seized Constantinople from Constantine V in 741. After Constantine made a comeback in November 743, Baktangios accompanied Artabasdos in his flight to the castle of Pouzanes in Opsikion (northwestern Asia Minor). Vakhtang Kolbaia ( ka, ვახტანგ ყოლბაია; born 9 September 1952) is a Georgian politician. From 2013 to 2019, he was chairman of the government of the Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia, which sits in exile in the Georgian capital of Tbilisi due to the armed conflict in Abkhazia. Vakhtang "Loti" Kobalia ( ka, ვახტანგ ოთიქობალია) (born 1950) is a retired Georgian colonel involved in the civil war of the early 1990s in which he commanded forces loyal to the ousted President Zviad Gamsakhurdia. Kobalia was a commander of the Zugdidi battalion of the National Guard of Georgia at the time when the armed opposition groups launched a coup against President Gamsakhurdia in December 1991. After Gamsakhurdia's fall in January 1992, Kobalia led resistance to the forces loyal to the new regime led, since March 1992, by Eduard Shevardnadze in the western Georgian province of Mingrelia, Gamsakhurdia's principal powerbase. Vakhtang Kapanadze ( ka, ვახტანგ კაპანაძე) (born 17 August 1960) is a Georgian major general who was Chief of General Staff of the Georgian Armed Forces from 22 November 2013 to 22 November 2016. He held the same command from August 2004 to February 2005. Prior he was in charge of the Georgian peacekeeping battalion deployed in South Ossetia before the war broke out. Vakhtang "Vaho" Iagorashvili (born April 5, 1964 in Tbilisi, Georgia) is a Soviet modern pentathlete, who has been a member of three different Olympic teams during his sporting career. Iagorashvili emerged as the top favorite to win the men's individual and team modern pentathlon in the late 1980s. As a competitor for the Soviet Union, he had won the bronze medal at the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul, and gold at the 1990 Goodwill Games in Seattle, became a three-time national champion for the team, and claimed multiple titles at the world championships. He also won three European titles (two golds and one bronze for the individual and team events). Vakhtang (Vato) Kakhidze ( ka, ვახტანგ (ვატო) კახიძე; russian: Вахтанг Кахидзе; born 23 March 1959 in Tbilisi) is a Georgian composer and conductor. He is the son of conductor Jansug Kakhidze. He graduated and postgraduated from the Moscow State Conservatory. He studied composition with Nikolai Sidelnikov and orchestration with Edison Denisov.
