Vahram Sargsyan
Vahram Sargsyan (alternate transliterations include Sarkissian or Sargissian, Armenian: Վահրամ Սարգսյան; born 28 May 1981, Yerevan, Armenia) is an Armenian Canadian composer, choral conductor and experimental vocalist currently living in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Biography Vahram Sargsyan studied at the P. Tchaikovsky Musical College, at the Music Theory Faculty. He then studied composition with Ashot Zohrabyan at the Yerevan Komitas State Conservatory from 1998 to 2003, where he also studied conducting with Tigran Hekekyan from 2000 to 2006 and where he has had post-graduate studies in composition again with Ashot Zohrabyan from 2005 to 2007. Currently he is working towards his master's degree in composition at Schulich School of Music, McGill University with Philippe Leroux. Balram
Balarama (Sanskrit: बलराम, IAST: ''Balarāma'') is a Hindu god and the elder brother of Krishna. He is particularly significant in the Jagannath tradition, as one of the triad deities. He is also known as Haladhara, Halayudha, Baladeva, Balabhadra, and Sankarshana. The first two epithets associate him with ''hala'' (''langala'', "plough") from his strong associations with farming and farmers, as the deity who used farm equipment as weapons when needed, and the next two refer to his strength. Vahramashen Church
The Vahramashen Church ( hy, Վահրամաշեն եկեղեցի), also commonly referred to as Vahramashen Surp Astvatsatsin or the Church of Amberd) was built for Prince Vahram Pahlavuni of the Pahlavuni family. An inscription on the inside lintel of the north portal to the church dates its completion to the year 1026. It sits along the slopes of Mount Aragats in the Aragatsotn province of Armenia, between the fortress of Amberd and near a wall along the promontory with the Arkashian River in the canyon below. Architecture S. Astvatsatsin is a cruciform type church with four two-story chambers in the corners. A large circular twelve-faceted drum sits on top of the church, with pairs of thin decorative columns standing at the edge of each facet. A conical umbrella type dome rests above. Vahram Zaryan
Vahram Zaryan is a French performance artist, mime, dancer, director, and choreographer of Armenian descent. He is the founder and artistic director of the PERF International Festival, created in June 2019. Biography Zaryan studied theatre, body movement, and dance at the National Conservatory of Dramatic Art in Armenia. There, he specialized in mime, beginning his apprenticeship at the State Theater of Pantomime in Yerevan under the direction of Zhirayr Dadasyan. Zaryan moved to the Paris Opera, where he studied classical dance with Yves Casati, and Decroux technique with Yvan Bacciocchi at the Studio of Belleville. Verethragna
Verethragna ( ae, 𐬬𐬆𐬭𐬆𐬚𐬭𐬀𐬖𐬥𐬀 ') is an Indo-Iranian deity. The neuter noun ''verethragna'' is related to Avestan ''verethra'', 'obstacle' and ''verethragnan'', 'victorious'. Representing this concept is the divinity Verethragna, who is the hypostasis of "victory", and "as a giver of victory Verethragna plainly enjoyed the greatest popularity of old." In Zoroastrian Middle Persian, Verethragna became 𐭥𐭫𐭧𐭫𐭠𐭭 Warahrām, from which Vahram, Vehram, Bahram, Behram and other variants derive. The word is cognate with the Vedic Sanskrit. Vahram Papazian
Vahram Papazian or Papazyan ( hy, Վահրամ Քամերի Փափազյան, January 6, 1888 in Constantinople, Ottoman Empire – June 5, 1968 in Yerevan, Armenia), was a Soviet actor who was an ethnic Armenian, mostly known for his Shakespearean roles. Vahram had done plays in Constantinople, Tiflis, Baku Armenian theaters, Moscow's Maly Theatre and in France, Italy, Austria, Spain, and Belgium. Papazian began his career in 1908, where he was regarded as one of the best Armenian actors at the time. Before his death he was known as the leading star in the Sundukyan Academic Theatre. The ''Council of National Literature's'' wrote that 'Vahram Papazian's Othello dominated the Armenian stage for more than half a century'. In 1933, Rezā Shāh decided to create the National State Theatre Company and invited Vahram Papazian to cast a number of shows for the Iranian Red Cross. Vahram Pahlavouni
Vahram Pahlavouni (965–1046) was an Armenian army commander (sparapet) and Prince of Bjni and Nik in Bagratuni Armenia. He was the head of the noble family of Pahlavouni, who held the hereditary title of sparapet in the Bagratuni kingdom of Ani. Biography In 1041 Vahram Pahlavouni prepared the coronation of the successor to Smbat III, the king’s nephew Gagik II who at that time was only fourteen years old. The Byzantine emperor,was aiming to take control of Ani and its surroundings and annex them into the Empire. To that end, he began supporting the rebel Vest Sarkis, an Armenian pro-Byzantine prince and adviser of king Smbat III, who took over the city of Ani with the intention of handing it over.
