Vadim Zadoynov
Vadim Zadoynov (russian: Вадим Задойнов, born 24 May 1969) is a Moldovan athlete who specialized in the 400 metres hurdles. Zadoynov was born in Chişinău. He won the bronze medal for the Soviet Union at the 1988 World Junior Championships. At the 1990 European Championships he finished fourth in the 400 m hurdles and eighth in the 4 × 400 m relay. At the 1992 Olympic Games he was knocked out in the heats. Zadoynov also competed at the World Championships in 1993, 1995, 1997 and 1999, and only reached the semi-final once; in 1997. He was also knocked out in the heats at the Olympic Games in 1996 and 2000. He finished seventh at the 1994 European Championships and fifth at the 1998 European Championships. The 4th World Championships in Athletics, under the auspices of the International Association of Athletics Federations, were held in the Neckarstadium, Stuttgart, Germany between 13 and 22 August with the participation of 187 nations. ] The men's 400 metres hurdles was an event at the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona, Spain. It was held from 3 to 6 August at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys. There were 47 competitors from 35 nations. The maximum number of athletes per nation had been set at 3 since the 1930 Olympic Congress. The event was won by Kevin Young of the United States, the nation's third consecutive and 15th overall victory in the event. Winthrop Graham earned Jamaica's first men's 400 metres hurdles medal with his silver. Kriss Akabusi earned bronze, putting Great Britain on the podium in the event for the first time since 1980.
