Vaalee (2001 Film)
''Vaalee'' is a 2001 Indian Kannada-language romantic psychological thriller film directed by S. Mahendar starring Sudeep in a double role and Poonam Singar. The film features background score and soundtrack composed by Rajesh Ramanath and lyrics by K. Kalyan. The film released on 19 October 2001 and had a below average box office run. It is a remake of the 1999 Tamil film of the same name. After this film, Sudeep went on to portray several gray characters. Plot Deva and Shiva are twins. Deva, the elder, is deaf and mute. ''Vaalee'' is a 1999 Indian Tamil-language psychological romantic thriller film written and directed by S. J. Suryah in his directorial debut. The film stars Ajith Kumar in dual roles with Simran and Jyothika (her Tamil debut). Vivek, Rajeev, Pandu and Sujitha appear in important supporting roles. A modern-day adaptation of the legend of Vali from the ''Ramayana'', it revolves around Shiva and Deva, two identical twin brothers, with Deva being deaf-mute. However, when Shiva marries his sweetheart Priya, Deva becomes obsessed with and lusts for Priya. Suryah completed the script of ''Vaalee'' in 60 days, and the project was picked up for production by S. S. Chakravarthy of NIC Arts. Filmfare Awards South is the South Indian segment of the annual Filmfare Awards, presented by the Filmfare magazine of The Times Group to honour both artistic and technical excellence of professionals in the Indian film industry encompassing four languages, namely, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada. They were introduced in 1954, around the films released in 1952-53 and Filmfare Awards initially recognizing the Hindi film industry. In 1964 awards were extended in Tamil, Telugu, Bengali and Marathi, around the films released in 1963. The inclusion of the Malayalam cinema in the awards came in 1967 while Kannada cinema was recognized in 1970. Anuradha Sriram (born 9 July 1970) is an Indian carnatic and playback singer and child actress who hails from the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. She has sung more than 700 songs in Tamil, Telugu, Sinhala, Malayalam, Kannada, Bengali and Hindi films.
