VTV (Dutch TV Channel)
VTV was a Dutch television station. It used to timeshare with Kindernet Kindernet (as Nickelodeon Kindernet from 2011 to 2013) was a Dutch television network that aired classic and modern children's television series from the 1980s onward. Two iterations of the network have been broadcast; the original lasted from 19 .... It launched on 2 October 1995. The first letter "V" stood for Vesta, the Roman goddess of the hearth and home. The channel's main target were women aged between 20 and 40 years. Léonie Sazias was the main presenter. Due to its poor ratings VTV closed on 1 July 1996. Kindernet (as Nickelodeon Kindernet from 2011 to 2013) was a Dutch television network that aired classic and modern children's television series from the 1980s onward. Two iterations of the network have been broadcast; the original lasted from 1988 to 2003, while a Nickelodeon-branded revival launched 2011 and ended in 2013. History Original (1988–2003) Kindernet began as an idea by Dennis Livson, a Finnish producer and distributor of animated programmes in the 1970s. He believed that, at the time, children's programmes made for television were too violent for young viewers. He therefore started a network with so called "violence-free" cartoons. Its first logo reflected the childish aesthetic. The network is finally launched through satellite (Intelsat V 27.5 degrees West) and some cable networks on 1 March 1988. Vesta (mythology)
Vesta () is the virgin goddess of the hearth, home, and family in Roman religion. She was rarely depicted in human form, and was more often represented by the fire of her temple in the Forum Romanum. Entry to her temple was permitted only to her priestesses, the Vestal Virgins, who guarded particular sacred objects within, prepared flour and sacred salt (''mola salsa'') for official sacrifices, and tended Vesta's sacred fire at the temple hearth. Their virginity was thought essential to Rome's survival; if found guilty of inchastity, they were punished by burial alive. As Vesta was considered a guardian of the Roman people, her festival, the '' Vestalia'' (7–15 June), was regarded as one of the most important Roman holidays.
