VIS-AVTO ( rus, ВИС-АВТО), originally called VAZInterServices ( rus, ВАЗинтерСервис), is a Russian company owned by AvtoVAZ and focused on the manufacturing of Lada-based light commercial vehicles and vehicle conversion. A spin-off company of VAZInterServices, called also VAZInterServices or VIS ( rus, ВИС), specialises in auto parts and is controlled by  United Automotive Technologies. Both VIS-AVTO and VIS are headquartered in Tolyatti, Samara Oblast. History VAZInterServices was founded in 1991 to produce parts for Lada cars and a pick-up truck based on them. In 2003, the company became part of the SOK Group. In 2008, the Russian government took control of VAZInterServices and other SOK Group assets by force. The Lada Niva Legend, formerly called the Lada Niva, VAZ-2121, VAZ-2131, and Lada 4×4 (russian: link=no, ВАЗ-2121, ВАЗ-2131, Лада Нива), is a series of four-wheel drive, small (hatchback), and compact (wagon and pickup) off-road cars designed and produced by AvtoVAZ since 1977. Initially aimed at the rural market, later models also targeted urban users. The three- and later five-door 4×4 hatchbacks were sold under the Lada marque in many markets, and have been in continuous production since 1977. The SOK Group (russian: Группа «СОК») was a Russian holding company established in 1994 and based in Samara, Russia. Yuri Kachmazov was the group's president. The name SOK was originally an acronym for 'Samara Window Company'. History The SOK Group started in 1994 as an AvtoVAZ dealership, growing to become one of the main automotive companies in Russia.
