98s is a British hip hop collective based in Hackney, London. The group is named after the two postcodes, E9 (Homerton) and E8 (Holly Street), where the members are from. Their members include V9, Unknown T, Kay-O (formerly KO), HitMan, DA, Jimmy, Stally, Alchubbino, Billy Billions and Mazza. They released their debut album ''Class of 98s'' on 24 September 2020. History 98s are a collective of friends from Homerton and Holly Street in Hackney, London. On 4 November 2019, the group made an appearance on Tim Westwood's "Crib Session" for a cypher on his show. Individual members such as V9, Unknown T, and KO (now known as Kay-O) had success as solo artists prior to the collective formed in 2020, with the mixtapes ''Yūdokuna'', ''Rise Above Hate'', and ''Drilliam Shakespeare''. Hackney is a district in East London, England, forming around two-thirds of the area of the modern London Borough of Hackney, to which it gives its name. British hip hop, also known as UK hip hop or UK rap, is a genre of music, and a culture that covers a variety of styles of hip hop music made in the United Kingdom. It is generally classified as one of a number of styles of R&B/Hip-Hop. UK Drill
UK drill is a subgenre of drill music and road rap that originated in the South London district of Brixton from 2012 onwards. Initially borrowing heavily from the style of Chicago drill music before creating its own unique sound, UK drill artists often rap about violent and hedonistic criminal lifestyles. Typically, those who create this style of music are affiliated with gangs or come from socioeconomically-deprived neighbourhoods where crime is a way of life for many. UK drill music is closely related to road rap, a British style of gangsta rap that became popular in the years prior to the existence of drill. Homerton ( ) is an area in London, England, in the London Borough of Hackney. It is bordered to the west by Hackney Central, to the north by Lower Clapton, in the east by Hackney Wick, Leyton and by South Hackney to the south. In 2019, it had a population of 14,658 people. In terms of ethnicity it was 43.9% White, 33.0% Black, 10.9% Asian and 7.8% Mixed. It covered an area of 0.830 sq kilometres. Daniel Lena (born 17 August 1999), known professionally as Unknown T, is a British professional musician. His post release album “Rise Above Hate” (2020) was a major hit on the UK music scene, the album reaching the top of the charts in the first couple of weeks. Career Unknown T was born in London to Ugandan parents. His debut single, "Homerton B", peaked at number 48 on the UK Singles Chart in October 2018. Though it was originally released without a label, its chart performance led to him being signed by Island Records through Universal Music Group and appeared at Wireless festival in 2019. It was included in a number of publications "best of 2018" lists, including ''The Guardian'', ''Mixmag'', and ''Complex''. Timothy Westwood (born 3 October 1957) is a British DJ and presenter. He is often referred to by other DJs and artists appearing on his shows simply as Westwood. Jahrell Bryan, commonly known as Fumez the Engineer, is a British audio engineer from London.
