V8 Supercars Privateers Cup
The V8 Supercars Privateers Cup was a competition for non professional racing teams competing in the V8 Supercar and Australian Touring Car Championship series. This was created so the Australian Racing Drivers Club's AMSCAR series would not impact on competitors in the main series. With number increasing, this competition was abandoned in 2000 and the new Konica V8 Lites Series was formed to make a second tier. As more professional teams entered this competition, in 2008, another series called the V8 Touring Car National Series was formed to make a third tier competition. History Greenfield Mowers Racing first came to national prominence competing in the 1995 Australian Sports Sedan Championship with Cameron McLean winning the series in an ex Tony Longhurst Racing BMW M3. The Ford Falcon (EL) is a full-size car that was produced by Ford Australia from 1996 to 1998. It was the fifth and final iteration of the fifth generation of the Falcon and also included the Ford Fairmont (EL)—the luxury-oriented version. The EL series served as the final chapter of the fifth generation "E-series" architecture, which began with the EA of 1988. Ford discontinued the car in 1998, and replaced it with the AU. Cameron McLean
Cameron McLean (born 14 December 1967) is an Australian former racing driver. Career McLean began racing at age 14 in karts. He came to prominence when he won the 1995 Australian Sports Sedan Championship in a BMW M3. McLean won the 1997 and 1998 Privateers’ Cup in the Australian Super Touring Championship. In 1999 he moved to the V8 Supercars category with Greenfield Mowers Racing, winning the Privateers award in the 1999 Shell Championship Series. From there, he raced in selected events, but was always a regular in the endurance races. For 2001 and 2002, he drove for private team Paragon Motorsports, but was never able to land a full-time drive with a professional outfit. McLean drove with a number of different leading teams in the enduros, including Dick Johnson Racing, Kmart Racing, Stone Brothers Racing, Ford Performance Racing and Garry Rogers Motorsport. The 1999 Shell Championship Series was a motor racing series for V8 Supercars which began on 28 March 1999 at Eastern Creek Raceway and ended on 14 November at the Mount Panorama Circuit after 13 rounds. The Australian Touring Car Championship was renamed for 1999 in what was essentially a marketing decision, however the winner of the newly named series was also awarded the 1999 Australian Touring Car Championship title by CAMS. 1999 was the first season since 1977 in which the longer distance, endurance race events were included in the championship. Lansvale Racing Team, also known as Lansvale Smash Repairs Racing was an Australian motor racing team that competed in Australian touring car racing between 1986 and 2003. John Faulkner Racing (JFR) was an Australian motor racing team that competed in AUSCAR, NASCAR and V8 Supercars racing in the 1990’s and early 2000’s History John Faulkner Racing was formed by former Toyota Team Australia driver John Faulkner in the early 1990s. The Holden Commodore (VS) is an executive car which was produced by Holden from 1995 to 1997 and 2000 for utility versions. John Faulkner (racing Driver)
John Murray Faulkner (born 24 August 1952 in Palmerston North, New Zealand) is a retired racing driver. Faulkner spent the majority of his career in sedan based classes. Initially he competing in small touring cars including Ford Escorts and Capris before joining Toyota Team Australia and driving their factory supported Toyota Corolla touring cars. After engine capacity classes were discontinued in the Australian Touring Car Championship, Faulkner moved into Superspeedway racing, establishing John Faulkner Racing to compete in the AUSCAR and Australian NASCAR series, contested mainly at the Calder Park Thunderdome. Garry Rogers Motorsport
Garry Rogers Motorsport is an Australian motor racing team. It is owned by retired racing driver Garry Rogers who began the team to further his own racing efforts. Based in Melbourne, originally out of a Nissan dealership owned by Rogers, the team has competed in a variety of touring car series in Australia ranging from relatively modest Nissan production cars to Chevrolet NASCARs to building the GT specification Holden Monaro 427C.
