''Välkommen hem'' is the second studio album released by Swedish boy band E.M.D. It marks their first release of material sung in Swedish. The album was released in Sweden on November 9, 2009 and features both classic and lesser known Christmas songs. The album was recorded in Stockholm, Sweden at Grünewaldsalen and was produced by Peter Nordahl. The first and only single to be released off the album was the title track " Välkommen hem". Christmas Music
Christmas music comprises a variety of genres of music regularly performed or heard around the Christmas season. Silent Night
"Silent Night" (german: "Stille Nacht, heilige Nacht", links=no, italic=no) is a popular Christmas carol, composed in 1818 by Franz Xaver Gruber to lyrics by Joseph Mohr in the small town of Oberndorf bei Salzburg, Austria. It was declared an intangible cultural heritage by UNESCO in 2011. The song was first recorded in 1905 and has remained a popular success, appearing in films and multiple successful recordings, as well as being quoted in other musical compositions. Sverigetopplistan (, lit. "the Sweden top list") is the Swedish national record chart, formerly known as Topplistan (1975–1997) and Hitlistan (1998–2007) and known by its current name since October 2007, based on sales data from the Swedish Recording Industry Association (in Swedish Grammofonleverantörernas förening). Before Topplistan, music sales in Sweden were recorded by Kvällstoppen, whose weekly chart was a combined albums and singles list. The World Childhood Foundation, often referred to as simply Childhood, was founded by Queen Silvia of Sweden in 1999 in an effort to reach and support children at risk around the world. Koppången (song)
Koppången is a Swedish song, with music composed originally for violin in 1998 by for his folk music group Orsa Spelmän, which includes his brothers Kalle Moraeus and Olle Moraeus. The name and the inspiration for the song come from the wetlands and nature preserve , near the Moraeus family home in Orsa Municipality, Dalarna, Sweden. In 1998 Orsa Spelmän recorded the instrumental version of Koppången on the album which was released on the label Mono Music (MMCD 013). In 1999 Py Bäckman wrote lyrics for the song, in both Swedish and English and mezzo-soprano Anne Sofie von Otter recorded both versions on her album, 'Home for Christmas', which was released by Deutsche Grammophon. Julvisa, also known after the opening lines Giv mig ej glans, ej guld, ej prakt, is a Christmas song written by Zacharias Topelius in 1887. It was originally published in Publicistklubben's magazine Julqvällen and appears in the fourth volume of Zacharias Topelius' '' Samlade skrifter''. It was set to music by 30 year old Jean Sibelius in 1895 (opus 1, number 4). In Finnish, the song's opening lines are "En etsi valtaa, loistoa" and the song was originally published in Finnish in 1909, probably with lyrics by Martti Korpilahti, and was adopted in the 1986 Finnish hymnal, with lyrics by Niilo Rauhala in 1984. O Holy Night
"O Holy Night" (original title: ) is a well-known sacred song for Christmas performance. Originally based on a French-language poem by poet Placide Cappeau, written in 1843, with the first line (Midnight, Christian, is the solemn hour) that composer Adolphe Adam set to music in 1847. The piece consists of a melody by the French Romantic composer Charles Gounod that he superimposed over an only very slightly changed version of Bach's Prelude No. 1 in C major, BWV 846, from Book I of his ''The Well-Tempered Clavier'', 1722.
