Vugar Orujov
Vugar Nariman oglu Orujov ( az, Vüqar Nəriman oğlu Orucov, russian: Оруджев Вугар Нариман оглы, born 26 October 1971 in Baku, Azerbaijani SSR, Soviet Union) is a Russian two-time freestyle wrestling world champion and an Olympic bronze medalist of Azerbaijani heritage. He competed in both the 1992 Summer Olympics, where he competed for the Unified Team at the Olympics, Unified Team, and the 1996 Summer Olympics, taking third and fourth respectively. He is currently a head coach at Nassau Community College in East Garden City, New York, East Garden City, New York. He has three sons. His middle son, Vitali Arujau, represents Cornell Big Red wrestling, Cornell University in NCAA Division I and won the 2023 NCAA_Division I Wrestling Championships at 133 lb and gold at the 2023 World Wrestling Championships at 61kg, joining his father as a world champion. Cornell Big Red Wrestling
The Cornell Big Red wrestling team represents Cornell University of Ithaca, New York in collegiate wrestling. It is one of the most successful and storied collegiate wrestling programs in the nation with over 20 individual NCAA champions and 42 Ivy League and 26 Eastern Intercollegiate Wrestling Association championships since the program's 1907 founding. Since 2021, the Cornell wrestling team has been coached by two-time NCAA All-American and former Cornell wrestler Mike Grey, who took over for Rob Koll, who left for Stanford after 28 years as head coach. Koll led the team to eight top-five finishes in the NCAA Division I wrestling tournament, including second-place finishes in 2010 and 2011. Vitali Orujov (russian: Виталий Оруджов; born June 1, 1999) is an American freestyle and folkstyle wrestler who competes at 61 kilograms. In freestyle, he is the reigning World Champion at 61kg, as well as a two-time Pan-American gold medalist and the 2023 US National champion. In folkstyle, Arujau is the reigning NCAA Division I National champion at 133 pounds out of Cornell University. Folkstyle career High school Arujau attended Syosset High School in Syosset, New York. He started wrestling on the varsity team as an eighth grader ('12–'13) and placed second in the state tournament that year, losing to eventual teammate Yianni Diakomihalis in the 99-pound final. After his setback in the state final, he did not lose another match in his high-school career and ended with a 216–1 record and four NYSPHSAA titles.
