Vreugd En Rust
__NOTOC__ Restaurant ''Vreugd en Rust'' is a defunct restaurant in Voorburg, Netherlands. It was a fine dining restaurant that was awarded one Michelin star in 1990 and retained that rating until 1993. Part-owner and head chef Henk Savelberg. Together with some admirers he had set up a company that first exploited restaurant ''Seinpost'' and later ''Vreugd en Rust''. In 1993 the company collapsed and Savelberg was bought out. The new head chef was Gert Jan Hageman. New owner Henk Savelberg closed the restaurant in 1995 and renovated the mansion. In 1997 he reopened it as restaurant-hotel '' Savelberg''. Voorburg
Voorburg is a town and former municipality in the west part of the province of South Holland, Netherlands. Together with Leidschendam and Stompwijk, it makes up the municipality Leidschendam-Voorburg. It has a population of about 39,000 people. It is considered to be the oldest city in The Netherlands and celebrated its 2000th year of existence in 1988. A chef is a trained professional cook and tradesman who is proficient in all aspects of food preparation, often focusing on a particular cuisine. Henk Savelberg
Henk Savelberg (Mechelen, 11 July 1953) is a Dutch head chef. Up until now, he is the only head chef from the Netherlands awarded a Michelin star in five different restaurants. Savelberg comes from a mining family of five children. At a young age he lost his mother, so he was mainly raised by his father and sister. He went to the hotel school in Sittard. He trained, amongst others, in Kasteel Wittem (Wittem) and hotel Terminus (Heerlen). When he was 17, he enlisted in the Netherlands Marine Corps. During an exercise in Norway he got frozen toes and as a consequence he had to leave the service. Kitchen career After leaving the Marines at age 20, he started working in the hospitality industry. His first employers were ''Bon Ton'' in Scheveningen, ''Nostaligia'' and ''La Grande Bouffe'' in The Hague, where he discovered the Nouvelle Cuisine. __NOTOC__ ''Seinpost'' is a restaurant located in Scheveningen, Netherlands. It is a fine dining restaurant that was awarded one Michelin star in the periods 1985-1989 and 2006–present. It held a Bib Gourmand at least in the period 2001–2003. GaultMillau awarded the restaurant 17.0 out of 20 points. The Head chef of ''Seinpost'' is Gert-Jan Cieremans. Cieremans had previously worked in the Michelin-starred Parkheuvel under Cees Helder, before becoming head chef at Seinpost in 1996. The head chef in the first Michelin period was Henk Savelberg.
