Voyageur (Enigma Album)
''Voyageur'' is the fifth studio album by the German musical project Enigma, released on 8 September 2003 by Virgin Records. ''Voyageur'' was considered to be Enigma's most distinctive album to date, due to Enigma's drastic changes in sound as compared to the previous four albums. The project's signature ''shakuhachi'' flutes, Gregorian chants and tribal chants found on the earlier albums were all but gone on ''Voyageur''. Instead, most of the songs found on the album were more pop-oriented, such as "Voyageur", "Incognito", " Boum-Boum" and "Look of Today"; the latter of which interpolates the chorus of ABC's " The Look of Love". Michael Cretu described ''Voyageurs genre as "sophisticated pop". Only a few samples of previous works are retained; a familiar reversed cymbal rhythm appears in "Look of Today", while "Incognito" contains the chorus of previous single " Sadeness" buried in the bridge of the song. Enigma (German Band)
Enigma is a German musical project founded in 1990 by Romanian-German musician and producer Michael Cretu. Cretu had released several solo records, collaborated with various artists, and produced albums for his then-wife, German pop singer Sandra, before he conceived the idea of a new-age, worldbeat project. He recorded the first Enigma studio album, '' MCMXC a.D.'' (1990), with contributions from David Fairstein and Frank Peterson. The album remains Enigma's most successful, helped by the international hit single "Sadeness (Part I)", which sold twelve million units alone. According to Cretu, the inspiration for the creation of the project came from his desire to make a kind of music that did not obey "the old rules and habits" and presented a new form of artistic expression with mystic and experimental components. "The Look of Love" is a song by English pop band ABC, released in 1982 as the third single from their debut studio album, ''The Lexicon of Love'' (1982). It was the band's highest charting hit in the UK, peaking at No. 4 on the UK Singles Chart. Andru Donalds (born 16 November 1974) is a Jamaican musician and vocalist, who also worked in collaboration with the Enigma project. Donalds had a hit single in America in 1995 with " Mishale", which reached No. 38 on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100. Biography Andru Donalds was born in Kingston, Jamaica. His musical style ranges from pop, rock and roll, to reggae and ballads. His influences include Bob Marley, Black Uhuru, The Beatles, Michael Jackson and Prince. Ruth-Ann Boyle (born 26 April 1970, Sunderland, England) is an English pop singer. Together with producers Tim Kellett and Robin Taylor-Firth, she formed the British band Olive. Jens Gad is a German producer, songwriter and guitarist of Danish parents. He started making music at young age. Gad produces music for many artists (Sandra Cretu / Sandra Gambino) and was previously co-producer for the musical project, Enigma. In the past he has released albums under the name of "Enigmatic Obsession", "Jens Gad Presents" for his new instrumental work, and also under the name of "Achillea", for his new world-influenced music which features different female vocalists on each album, singing in different languages.
